…getting to know all about you…
I recently wrote something very similar for Weddingbee, but I figured sharing some random facts about myself here would be a great way to kick off my new blog! So without further ado, all you ever wanted to know about me (and perhaps more).
I was born in Arizona, but have also called Texas, Tennessee (for college – it counts!), and Virginia home. As a child, moving was an exhausting and frustrating experience. It was a struggle being uprooted and finding my place in new city. Even when we moved to Richmond for the second time, it was still jarring; however, now looking back, I feel grateful for being exposed to so many different places and people. Each experience shaped me and opened my mind to new possibilities, ideologies, and cultures. Plus I can now officially blame my wanderlust on my parents!
Although I lived most of my childhood as an only child, I find it hard to remember what life was like before my sister was born. At fifteen my mini-me came into the world. We may look alike, but I’m pretty sure she has got more spunk in her pinkie than I have in my entire body. And check out these dimples!
Sissy M has shaped my life in ways I didn’t think were possible. I dearly miss her and my family, who currently call Californ-I-A home. Here’s to hoping they eventually decide East Coast living is where it’s at.
My Virginia family may technically only consist of Aaron and myself, but embarrassingly enough, I am one of those people who considers dogs her four-legged children. I have a house full of three mischievous mutts: Bella, Jetta, and Tug. Yes, I refer to myself as their “mom” (“Tug! Mommy said, ‘no!'”), and yes, I’m a little ashamed to admit that. If it weren’t for Aaron, I would surely turn into a crazy dog lady (with a large farm and a pack of dogs while possibly most likely living with my equally-as-dog-crazy friend A).
While dogs, err, Aaron may be my first love, I also have a passion for music. So much so that my iTunes library has over 5,000 songs. (That’s enough to play music for more than 15 days straight!) I honestly believe that this obsession has lead to lyrics taking up more than half my memory. I mean, who the heck still remembers all the words to Raffi songs at my age?!

Baby Beluga? Down by the Bay? All still stuck in my brain. And I’m childless. From my first concert (Amy Grant! [Baby, Baby anyone?]) to my most recent (Avett Brothers!), music has always just stuck with me.
With my love of music I’m sure it will come as no surprise that I was a dancer most of my life. I’ve pretty much done it all: jazz, tap, modern, ballet, pointe, lyrical… You name it, I’ve probably danced it. (Well, except ballroom. I’m pretty sure Aaron would rather break his foot than have to ballroom dance with me.) One of my favorite dance memories was being a part of my high school’s dance team, The Emerald Belles. During football season we would perform high kick routines (most often in cowboy boots and sparkly hats).
During the winter, we would compete in more traditional forms of dance like modern or lyrical, but high kick was still our specialty.
Other random facts?
I’m Hispanic (from my mother’s side). I can speak Spanish, but I’m far from being fluent. In fact the last time I spoke on a regular basis was when Mom and I traveled through Spain.
I’m not much of a coffee drinker, but I have a serious love for tea, especially Tazo. My stash could give Starbucks a run for their money.
I have a not-so-secret obsession with shopping. At any given time, I have at least one browser window and an app open on my phone for browsing for different clothing items. Aaron is apalled at the amount of shopping-related emails I receive.
Cliffs Notes version: I’m a family girl, who loves her pups, music, dancing, and travel. Most likely to be found sipping a cup of tea while internet shopping.
If you had to describe yourself in one or two sentences, what would you say?
