Over the weekend Aaron and I made a trip to Charlottesville’s Carter Mountain for some good ole fashioned apple picking.
It had been a few years since I’d made it to Carter Mountain, so I was downright shocked at the amount of people who were there. Thankfully there were still plenty of apples to be had. (We stocked up on Fuji and Granny Smiths!)
Once we were deep within the orchard it was much more peaceful.
It was a beautiful afternoon, but as usual, I ended up with a few more apples than necessary. So what’s a girl to do?
Bake an apple cake, of course!
Head on over to Brittany’s blog, The Denny Buzz, where I’m sharing my easy apple cake recipe!
Have any of y’all been apple picking this year? What are your favorite fresh apple recipes?
I didn’t get to go apple picking this year (bummer!) so I’ll live through your photos instead!
Oh how I love apple picking! I’m waiting for the weather to improve so that I head out on a sunny afternoon and do some picking. Love your pictures 🙂

Oh my gosh, how fun! I haven’t gotten a chance to get yet this year, but when I do, I usually don’t even eat that day…I just inhale my body weight in apples. Also, apple cake is my Dad’s favorite, so that’s a must each year!

I need to convince my BF to do this with me, it seems like a fun way to spend an afternoon outdoors, plus then we’ve got fruits for pies, cobblers, jams … yum yum!
