Just as I promised, Layla and I continued the tradition this year with our Mother’s Day outfits. I had actually purchased Layla’s dress a few months prior. (Because chambray. Y’all know how I feel about chambray.?) But when I recently saw this off shoulder chambray dress, I knew it would be perfect for Summer mommy daughter style.
They’re not perfectly matching, but I kind of like it that way for many of our mother-daughter outfits. I feel like it gives the looks a little more individuality. (Not that Layla really has personal style yet…Someday all the opinions will come.) But it also makes it so much easier to find coordinating pieces without spending big bucks!
Since finding out I was pregnant in February, I’ve been much more selective about the clothing I purchase (for obvious reasons!). This little chambray dress is not maternity but is so comfortable, and I knew it would work for a good amount of time. Since these photos were snapped a few weeks ago, there wasn’t much of a bump going on. But the higher cut (it’s not quite empire waist, but close!) and stretchy waist have been perfect for a growing belly! Buuut, even if you’re not expecting, you should still totally enjoy the comfy cut. The thicker off-shoulder band is another major selling point! I’ve found thicker bands prevent slipping. And everyone knows that having to constantly tug at your clothes is no fun! I’ve already gotten a couple of wears out of this dress, and I’m sure it will be on repeat all Summer long. The lightweight fabric and longer length make it a mommy-must if ya ask me! 😉

You and your daughter are beautiful in chambray! It’s so nice you can twin together like this – as you said even if the dresses aren’t identical they are similar and it makes for a very cute set of photos! 🙂
Hope you are having a great week! 🙂
