I didn’t schedule a professional maternity session when I was pregnant with Layla or with this pregnancy. But after taking some sunflower photos last summer, I signed my hubby up for a quick sunflower maternity photo session at a local sunflower field. And y’all, I am so pumped with the way they turned out! It’s amazing what a little pinterest-ing can help you accomplish! ?
I gotta say, Aaron’s photography skills are definitely getting better. But one of the things that helps the most is showing him exactly what I’m looking for! A lot of times I’ll have him stand in, and I will frame the photo. Then he can see exactly what I’m hoping to get. Or with these, I screenshot several Pinterest images as inspiration. And then we went through each one to recreate it. It probably took a little extra time, but I love the way they turned out. A little DIY sunflower maternity sesh complete!
Of course Layla had to jump in for a few photos as well. And even a kind stranger offered to take a family photo for us. I know I am going to cherish these photos for years to come!
Have you ever tried to DIY a photography session? If you have any tips, be sure to share!

These are darling photos!! My husband’s photography is better too, but I think it helps to get more than one set of eyes on the photos when we are taking them. And we try to get them from a couple of angles too!!
