It’s that time: Eliana’s two month update! And I gotta tell you: it’s been so sweet to see the changes Ellie is going through! The smiles, the coos, and the way that her and Layla look at each other are just the best. The newness of being a family of four is wearing off, and I feel like I definitely have a handle of things. (Don’t get me wrong, I’m almost always running around like a crazy lady, but we have more of a routine and I know somewhat of what to expect on a daily basis! ?)
Weight: Eliana is continuing to gain weight at a steady pace. At her two week she was at 30th percentile and she is still at 30th percentile as of her two month appointment. She now weighs in at 10 lbs, 10 oz! Height-wise, Ellie is 22.5 inches (50th percentile), and her head circumference is 15 inches (43rd percentile).
Eating: Eliana is still very food-focused and doesn’t like to miss her meals! During the day she eats every 2-3 hours. Her nursing sessions last anywhere from 10-30 minutes. She’s also a very noisy and expressive eater. She smacks her lips and sighs, which is funny but also so sweet. At night she goes a little longer between feedings!
We’re still dealing with reflux, but our pediatrician didn’t seem too concerned, calling her reflux as a “happy spitter.” Making sure to burp her and keep her upright after feedings seems to help. The ped also mentioned she should be over it by 12 weeks. I’m looking forward to that because I can’t tell you how many outfits have been attacked by Ellie’s projectile spit ups. ?
Sleep: We’re finally getting into more of a sleep routine, which is awesome. She normally sleeps until 1:30 or 2, meaning that at least I’m getting a few hours at a time! From there, she typically wakes up to eat around three hours later. So, at the most I’m really only waking up twice at night. I’ll call that a win. During the daytime, she always wants a nap after eating!
Clothes: Ellie is still in newborn diapers and clothes, but she’s finally filling them out. In fact, her sleepers are starting to get a little short on her. I’m sure she’ll be in 0-3 months/size very soon! It may sound silly, but thinking about putting away the newborn clothes is kind of sad. I remember going through it with Layla, but now I’ve been thinking about how she might be the last baby to wear them. Cue ???!
Mood: Eliana is overall a very happy girl! She smiles easily for me, Aaron, and Layla, which is just the sweetest thing to see! Of course Layla loves it too! And her coos are the best sound EVER. Ellie is crankiest when she is hungry or tired. She also goes through a fussy period at night that starts between 7 and 8. Taking a tub, getting swaddled, and eating typically takes care of that!
Eliana’s favorites:
- her family
- eating ?
- tubbies (and the sound of the tub water running!)
- being swaddled for nighttime sleep
- Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
- being walked around the house, especially when she’s tired!
- the baby wrap
- being held
- stripes (YAAS, GIRL. ??)… or really any bold contrast ?
Dislikes:
- the dogs barking
- being hungry
- hiccups
