Although I don’t talk about beauty here as much as fashion and style, makeup is actually one of my favorite things. I truly enjoy getting dressed in the morning and just feel more productive and ready to take on the day once my makeup is applied! So, I really pumped to be bringing you my daily makeup routine today! Be sure to scroll all the way to the bottom to see some skincare favorites as well.
My daily makeup routine
I’m definitely a creature of habit, and although I love trying new products, once I find one I love, I tend to stick with it for a while! All of these have been a part of my daily routine for a few months. And some of them have been staples for years!
1 – foundation, makeup sponge | 2 – corrector, concealer | 3 – setting powder | 4 – contour brush, blush brush, highlighting brush, makeup palette | 5 – brow powder, brow pencil | 6 – shadow brush, eyeliner | 7 – mascara primer, mascara
After priming my face with this primer, I apply Giorgio Armani’s Luminous Silk Foundation with a damp makeup sponge. Although this foundation is a bit pricey, I love the application! It covers all imperfections while still letting my skin show through! If you’re looking for a great foundation that is a little more affordable I also love this one from Make Up For Ever! I used it for over six years!
My dark circles are pretty intense, so to really brighten them up, I love starting with a color corrector. BECCA’s adds radiance and light while offering full coverage. I apply using my fingers and then follow with Tarte Shape Tape applied in an upside triangle with a damp makeup sponge. Also I make sure to take the concealer onto my eyelid all the way to my brow.
To set my concealer, I dip my damp makeup sponge into setting powder and dab it anywhere I applied concealer. This helps the concealer set and prevents under eye creasing! I follow by also lightly applying the powder all over my face with this powder brush.
The next steps are all about this beautiful face palette! I’ve been using it for the past couple of months, and I just love it. The shadow colors are all great neutrals, and I’m also a fan of the bronzer, blush, and highlighter! For the price and all it does, you just can’t go wrong! (If you already have blush and bronzer you love, this eyeshadow palette by Tarte is also a favorite I’ve had for years!)
I start by doing a quick and light contour around the edges of my face, under my cheekbones and along the bridge of my nose using this makeup brush. Then I apply blush ‘Desert’ with this brush on the apples on my cheeks. Lastly I highlight the top of my cheekbones and my nose with this $7 fan brush.
It’s time for brows! I start filling them in with NYX brow powder. I use the lighter shade on the inner brow. On the arch and outer brow, I fill in the with darker shade. The set comes with a mini brush but I prefer using this one. Target also has an affordable brow brush alternative! I follow by lining my brows with NYX’s brow pencil. This step helps add some shape to sparse areas!
For creaase, I use a medium brown shade (color Onyx from my palette). I add just a dab of a darker brown shade (color Ember) to the outer corner and blend. I finish my applying the light shimmer shade (color: Solstice) in my inner corner and under the brow bone. Then I line my eye with Kat Von D’s liner. What I love about this liner is how fine the point is! I can get right up on the lash line for a very fine line. It’s also perfect for a wing! This eyeshadow brush is my go-to!
Last but not least–mascara! For years I used the pricer Lancome mascara primer, and I still really love it. But then I found the primer included in L’Oreal’s Double Extend. It works just as well! So, after applying primer, I follow with Monsieur Big Mascara. It does a great job of creating a bold lash, which I love.
I’ve recently really stepped up my skincare routine as well. During the last Sephora sale, I ordered several minis to try, and now I have a collection of things that work for my skin!
In the morning, I start by cleansing with Purity, which I’ve been using for years! I follow with this vitamin c serum, and my daily moisturizer with SPF! Lastly, I add Drunk Elephant’s Marula Oil. I let everything set for several minutes before moving onto my makeup routine!
Since the Drunk Elephant products are expensive, I would recommend trying the minis first like I did! I ordered both the Daytime Duo and Nighttime Duo to find out which products I loved. (These would also make great gifts!)
I’m also a bit of a mask junkie! My all-time favorites are Origins Charcoal Mask, Drunk Elephant’s Baby Facial, and Fresh’s Rose Mask. The charcoal mask deep cleans without drying my skin. Baby Facial resurfaces your skin, improving texture and tone. And the rose masks may be the best thing I’ve ever felt on my skin. It is so hydrating and makes my skin feel incredibly soft.
