Denim jackets have been a classic staple in my wardrobe for years, but this year, I am loving the oversized denim jacket trend! They have a more relaxed boyfriend fit but are just as wearable as the more classic version! On a recent trip to H&M (you can see that full try on post here!), I found one for under $35. And I have been wearing it on repeat! If you’re ready to embrace the trend, read on! I’m sharing six oversized denim jacket outfits for spring that will have you rocking the look in no time.
For my oversized denim jacket, I went with my typical size 8. Fit is relaxed of course! The denim is also more of a true stiff denim material without a lot of stretch. If you wanted a more exaggerated boyfriend look, you could size up one.
Denim Jacket with Dark Wash Jeans
I am a firm believer in a classic denim on denim look! But to break it up, I prefer to pair lighter wash denim with darker washes. Here I went with a pair of classic dark wash skinny jeans and a knotted white button down. If you don’t like the knotted look, you could also tuck your top. Instead of a button down, you could also try a simple tee or printed blouse. I’d just recommend keeping the top a bit more fitted since an oversized denim jacket has more of a boxy fit!

Denim Jacket with Jogger Pants
For more casual days, you can’t go wrong with pairing jogger pants with a denim jacket! Although the base of this outfit (the tee and jogger pants) is super-casual, the jacket adds a little more structure and completes the look. I went with a slip-on sneaker but you could make the look even sportier with an athletic sneaker. It’s the perfect mom on-the-go look!

Denim Jacket with a Midi Skirt
I typically would reach for a more fitted denim jacket when styling with a skirt, but I ended up loving the casual vibe of this pairing! To keep it from looking too oversized, I knotted my tee at the waist! This draws attention to the waistline and keeps the look a little more feminine! If you wanted to dress the outfit up more, you could swap for a pair of flats. For a casual date night, I’d also wear this combo with a pair of heels!

Denim Jacket with a Sweatshirt
Since spring can be a little unpredictable weather-wise, I threw in a slightly warmer layered look with a sweatshirt! I love this fun printed crew neck sweatshirt, but any style would work. You could wear a hoodie style or even zip-up sweatshirt instead! I would recommend keeping your bottoms more fitted, like with these skinny jeans, to prevent the entire look being oversized in fit.

Denim Jacket with a Dress
You might recognize this outfit from my striped dress six ways post! I thought that I had worn a different shoe this time, but apparently I just can’t quit stripes and leopard print together. To make this look a little more casual, I’d wear sneakers instead! My fav white leather sneakers or black slip-ons would be perfect here!
Denim Jacket (8) | Dress (M) | Flats (8.5)
Denim Jacket with Black Jeans
If you’re not a fan of blue denim on blue denim, wearing colored jeans is a great way to ease into a double denim look. I went with black jeans here but white jeans are a good spring-into-summer option! Any color (how cute would pink or olive green be?!) would work! You could also go with a print like camo or polka dot! For the top, options are endless. I kept it simple with a tee, but if it’s colder where you live, you could swap it for a sweater.

A denim jacket is such a wardrobe staple. Love that it can be worn so many ways. All six outfits are pretty in their own way. That leopard skirt is super cute!

I think their is only one outfit I didn’t love. The one with the skirt, I think it needs a shorter Jacket.
