Holy moly, y’all. BUCKLE UP. This may be the biggest #Nsale post I’ve ever done. We’re talking over 25 head-to-toe outfits. I walked into Nordstrom around 9 am and walked out after 1:30pm! My goal was to be as comprehensive as possible, and I’m hoping to find this giant Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2019 Try On Session helpful when you’re shopping!
From sweaters to tops you can wear now and all the jeans I could get my hands on, we’re covering it all! And since I worked with a personal stylist, I also have shoes for every single outfit. I found so many great boots, booties, and sneakers!
My Sizing Info!
As far as sizing goes, I’m 5’7 1/2″ with a short torso and very long legs! (Seriously, the majority of my height comes from my legs, and you’re going to see that come into play with some of those jeans I tried! ?) I typically wear a 28/29 in jeans or a size 8. My bra size is a 36C and I typically wear a size medium (or 8) top!
If you ever have any question about what size I’m wearing, check the links below each image! I list my size and any recommendations I have for sizing up or down for quick reference. For full details, I’ll be chatting all about quality, style, and fit in the paragraphs above each photo. Let’s go!
Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2019 Try On Session
Starting off strong! This pocket-front sweater from Madewell is so cute on. It’s very boxy and fits large. I’m in a medium but would prefer a small. If you’re not into stripes, it comes in three other solids: pale muted pink, rust, and olive.
I also really love these jeans and brought them home with me. I love the slim boyfriend fit and subtle distressing. They are a pricier designer denim, but the quality is there for these! I recommend sizing down one. I’m in a 28.
I also ended up buying these booties! They may be some of the most flattering booties I’ve ever worn. I love the pointed toe and how it elongates the leg. It also has two side-v cut outs. The online sizing suggested sizing up one, but I liked my true size 9 on me. I do have a slightly more narrow foot though!
I love all the Madewell Ryder cardigans. They have a relaxed fit and slouchy pockets! This striped one ended up being a top fav, but I also ordered the colorblock version as well. If you prefer solids, see the color options here! I’m in a medium but ended up with a small. Stay true for a more slouchy, relaxed fit. Size down for a more fitted look.
I know everyone raves about the BP camis. (They are a great price!) But these Halogen ones are 100% better quality and only $4 more!! They have a v-neck, adjustable straps, and come in 10 color options! Trust me and go with these ones!
I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about these flats, but they won me over. The snakeskin is beautiful in person and I love the studs. They aren’t the thickest leather ever, but they are flexible and comfortable. They also come in three solids. Fit is TTS.
I love Free People thermals, especially when they are tunic length like this one! Any top I can wear with leggings is good. This one is very lightweight, which makes it a great transitional item. But it’s not up to the same thickness/quality I typically expect from FP. Fit is oversized. I sized in a small.
I already own a pair of button-front Madewell jeans, so I grabbed these to try in the dark wash! I thought they were adorable on but they were definitely too cropped on me. Most of my height is in my legs, so I occasionally orders talls from Madewell. In this case, I’d need them! For those 5’7″ with more even proportions and shorter, I don’t see the length being an issue. One more note: quality. I don’t think these are up to the same quality as Madewell denim I’ve purchased previously. The denim had a little less stretch and was tighter at the waist.
These leopard sneakers were one of the items I was most looking forward to, and they did not disappoint. I love the platform style and the calf hair leopard print! They are very cushion-y and comfortable too! I’m in my true size, 9!
I came in prepared to not like this tank ?, but I loved it. The top is smocked and there are subtle ruffles at the sleeve and neckline. The print is a muted floral that will work beautifully from summer into fall! It also comes in three other colors that I love equally as much as this green! I’m in a medium and like the fit. Also, if you’re looking for work to weekend options, this is a great one!
Another pretty work to weekend option! This top has subtle ruffles at the wrist, button-front (they’re functional!), and a drawstring waistline. It does fit on the larger side but I would stick with the medium.
I’m so glad my stylist pulled these jeans for me! I’ve never tried a pair of Topshop jeans before but they’re a winner. They have a nice high rise and plenty of stretch. I swear these are thicker denim than the Madewell button-front pair! The bottoms are a chewed hem. Fit is TTS. I’m wearing an 8.
I have a nearly identical pair of calf hair flats by Sam Edelman already and these are just as good. The main difference is the black leather lining. I have a narrow foot, so I’d personally size down one half size. If you have a wider foot, stay TTS.
If you don’t want a faux leather option, this is for you! It has the same drapey moto jacket look, but it’s made of the softest, most comfortable material. Seriously, this is one of my fav jacket options! You could wear it with camis, tees, turtlenecks, dresses… so many options here! Fit is TTS. I’m in a medium.
And here is the BP cami. Like I mentioned previously, the quality in my opinion just isn’t there– at least with this white one I tried. It’s semi see-through and feels flimsy. I much prefer the sHalogen camis for only $4 more. (The only downside of those is that they are not lace-trimmed.)
I really love the Central tops from Madewell. The have almost an inverted triangle cut that’s wide at the top and more narrow at the bottom. They do run oversized. I’m in a medium but typically buy a small. The material is very light and thin, which is a great option for warmer days. But again, I don’t think the quality is the same as typical Madewell.
And another Madewell item! These jeans, again, disappointed me a little. They are definitely too short on me and felt very thin. I’m wearing a 28.
Another work-appropriate option for y’all! This one is also nursing-friendly. It has a high neck and pleated top. Fit is very oversized. I’m in a medium but would prefer a small. Size down! It also comes in a leopard print! ?
PRAISE. Finally a pair of Madewell denim that is worth it! These have a 9-inch rise, which isn’t super high. They are long enough and are so flattering on! I swear they sucked me in in all the right places. ?The hem is raw but there is no other distressing, which makes them a great option to dress up. I’m wearing my typical Madewell size, 28.
I love the shade of red of this top and the bigger floral print. It also has a button back and cropped boxy fit. I’m in a medium and like the fit.
If you’re looking for a heeled mule, these are adorable! They’re actually yellow, but I toned down the yellows when I was edited my photos and now the color is non-existent. Whoops. You can see the true color on Nordstrom’s website! They also come in blush and black. The only downside for me? The 3 3/4″ heel. I’m a flats gal for a reason. ?
Style-wise this top isn’t really me. My stylist picked it out and I wanted to give it a go! But it’s a little too low cut for my preference, and I definitely would need a smaller size. I’m in a medium here. It is very soft and flowy though! I also did like the colors in person. They’re perfect for fall.
I also loved the color of these BP booties! They are the perfect rust-y brown shade! The price point is also great at under $70. They fit TTS! The only downside for me was the angle of the heel. They felt a little more angled and less comfortable if that makes sense!
This is my first Treasure & Bond plaid, and I’m very impressed with the quality! It’s super-soft and holds its shape better than some of the less expensive options I’ve tried in the past. I’m wearing a medium. The fit is a boyfriend style and relaxed, but I’d recommend sticking with your true size.
Of course I snagged the leopard dress to try! I was a little less impressed in person. Part of it might just be that it didn’t feel like my personal style! But I did think the fabric felt slightly flimsy. I’m in a medium.
If you’re looking for a faux leather jacket, this one is awesome! BlankNYC always knocks it out of the park. I typically order a size up in this brand but ended up swapping for my true size medium. The underside of the arms is knit, which makes it more stretchy and comfortable.
THIS DRESS! ?Another winner picked by my stylist. I almost didn’t try it on, but it’s SO CUTE. I love how the top is a tighter pleat. It’s such a versatile dress! You could wear it to work with heels and a blazer or just like this with booties! I also love it layered with a moto jacket. I’m in a medium and like the fit. It also comes in four other options, including leopard print.
Softest sweater alert! I love the chunky cowl and the fold-over cuff too! The cuffs are sewn so they won’t come undone when you’re wearing it. Fit is relaxed but I like the medium on me. It also comes in several other color options.
Another pair of Madewell denim that I like! These are the cropped demi bootcut. I was a little on the fence at first but after using them to create a couple of outfits, I was convinced! I’m in a 28.
Oh, these leopard print booties. How I struggled over them. I absolutely love them on. They are adorable, great quality, and fit well. I just wasn’t sure how much I’d actually wear them. They fit TTS. I’m in my typical 9.
This top is truly cropped and a thinner ribbed sweater. I didn’t think the quality was there for this one, so I skipped it! It fits TTS.
Yup, bought this entire outfit! This tee is lightweight and super-soft. It also has a drape-y fabric but it doesn’t cling. I’m in the medium! It also comes in a green leopard. Only $15!
I actually bought this same long cardigan in red last year and love it! The quality of these is better than the BP in my opinion! I like the way it drapes and the side slits at the bottom. Fit is TTS. I’m in a medium!
Ok, how cute is this? The tee I felt kinda “meh” about. It’s a very snug fit and the fabric is on the thinner side. I do like the scoop neck and elbow length cut though! It’s also very cropped. I’m in a medium.
But the skirt, I adore! It’s a super-stretchy twill. This would be a great work to weekend piece if you work in a more casual environment! I’m in a size 4, so I definitely recommend sizing down!
I love the color of these stripes! They’re so pretty in person! I accidentally grabbed a small but I don’t mind the fit! Size down for a more fitted look or stay true for a more relaxed look. Not into stripes? It also comes in eight other options!
I’ve been wanting to try these Wit & Wisdom Ab-solution skinny jeans forever and I finally grabbed a pair! They are just as good as people say. They are comfortable and so stretchy. But they feel like they’ll hold their shape well! The waistband also has a hidden elastic band that holds you in and stays in place. These are a mid-rise. Size down! I’m in a 6.
The texture of this coat is so unique! I love the boucle. If you’re on the hunt for a lighter jacket option, this is a good one. I’m in a medium. If you’re going to wear lighter tees, camis, and sweaters underneath, I’d size down one.
You can barely see the tee underneath, but it’s a long-sleeve with a v-neck. It also has a lettuce ruffle at the sleeves and bottom. The fit is more snug, so if you like looser options you might want to size up.
These boots are fantastic. I heard so many ladies rave about them while I was in-store! They also come in a black leather option! I love the pointy toe and slight slouch to them! The light gray is also super-versatile!
If you’re looking for a sweater, this one is the highest quality one I tried. It’s nice and substantial and I like the thicker weave. It also has cuff-able sleeves, a scoop bottom, and a mock neck. This rust-red is beautiful in person, but it also comes in black, burgundy, and ivory.
This is a lighter weight sweater option. It didn’t feel quite as substantial as some of the other options but it is super-soft. I also really like the tunic length! This is a great leggings-sweater option! I’m in a medium and like the fit.
I wanted to like this one, but it just wasn’t a fav. The material is super-soft and comfortable, but I see it more as a loungewear piece! I’m in a medium.
Sweatshirt (medium – TTS)
You’ve seen all of these pieces before, but I just love this combination! This striped cami is the same one as the peach one from earlier, and it came home with me!
The style of this sweater is so adorable! I love the cropped cut and color-blocking. The color combination is also one of my favs– a perfect mix of neutrals. It is also a thinner material if you’re looking for lighter sweaters. I’m in a medium.
If you’re hunting for a camo jacket, this one is so good! The material is soft and comfortable, and the quality is awesome. I’m in a medium but would recommend sizing down if you’re going to be wearing it with lighter layers!
I wanted to love this set because, hello, leopard! But the top is just not cute. At all. It’s supposed to be cropped but with the wide waistband, it just ends up creating a bubble. But the pants, y’all! SO CUTE! The inside is so stinkin’ soft. I love them and recommend them– just not with the top. ?I’m in a medium in both.
Love this workout outfit! The cropped tank is super-cute and surprisingly flattering on! The material is ribbed and it drapes so nicely! I’m in a medium!
The leggings are by one of my fav athletic brands– Zella! These are the 7/8 cut, which are just slightly cropped. They also have two pockets, which I love. They fit TTS and also come in black and blue solids.
The shoes are also a winner! They are so cushioned and comfortable. They also come in black with gold stripes, but I love these white ones! I’m wearing my true size, 9.
I live for comfy sets like this! After putting them on for a total of 30 seconds it was a no-brainer that they were coming home with me! The fabric is lighter weight, which is a necessity for me for sleep! They are also so so soft. Both pieces fit relaxed but TTS. They also come in other solids and prints! And if you’re more of a pants gal, they also have a matching jogger pant!
I had to grab these Spanx jeans to try! And y’all, I’m impressed. These are perfect to wear with longer tops like this tunic thermal! The waistband is elastic and they have a released hem. I’d suggest sizing up one! I’m in the large.
And last-minute I threw on these Vans. Yes, they have laces, but mama tired, y’all. ?They are red suede and so stinkin’ cute. I’m kind of regretting not buying them!! They do fit TTS. I’m in my typical 9.
