It’s been a while since I’ve done a try on of more than one or two items. With being at home and it also being summertime, I didn’t do a ton of shopping! But now that fall items are starting to roll in, I’ve been placing orders left and right! I’m excited to share everything I’ve found with y’all! And first up is an American Eagle Aerie try on!
American Eagle Aerie Try On
Our school district is learning virtually until further notice, so staying comfortable is still pretty paramount! The majority of the items I ordered are perfect for just that– lounging around at home! But since fall is on the horizon, I did also order two pairs of jeans to try. I may have only worn jeans a handful of times since March, but a girl still needs a good pair or two for the cooler weather, right?! Let’s dive in!
We’re starting off strong with one of my top recommendations. Y’all know that I’ve fully bought into the whole matching set thing. So naturally I was pumped to find this gym short and sweatshirt set at Aerie! Just like you’d expect from all things Aerie, this set is so stinkin’ comfy!! It’s soft on both sides and just feels like a warm hug.
It’s not exactly going to be cool anytime soon around here, so having a short option is perfect! It looks like the exact color of shorts I have are sold out but they are available in three other colors. The grey is actually my favorite but they were sold out when I ordered. So clearly my rec is to go with the grey, but the sweatshirt is still available in all six color ways! If you’re not into the whole set look, I’d still recommend both these pieces individually too!
The top fits TTS with a relaxed fit and dropped shoulders. I’m in a medium. I also purchased the shorts in a medium but wished I had gone with the small. They run a full size large. I can roll them and that helps them look less baggy (they’re rolled once in the photo below!), but I would suggest sizing down if possible!
Aaaand speaking of matching sets… 😂 I feel like matching sets are like Pringles. Once ya pop… please tell me someone else knows that who-knows-how-old ad! 😝 This set is a seamless sports bra and tie dye leggings. And if you ever had any doubt about my being as short waisted as I claim, here is your evidence. Approximately zero belly shown.
Of course Aerie nailed it on the comfort factor. Both pieces are seamless, soft and stay put! They both also fit TTS. I’m wearing a medium in both! They also come in a beautiful pale lavender tie dye and several solid color ways!
Another way to wear them! If you’re looking for more of a lounge-y look, layering with a sweatshirt is perfect! This is how you’d see me wearing the set outside the house! The blues don’t match perfectly but close enough! 😉
Are y’all tired of seeing me in biker shorts and graphic tees? ‘Cause somehow I don’t see this combo going anywhere!
I’ve been wanting to try out AE’s Tailgate collection for a while now and finally ordered this Joy Division tee! Y’all! It is SO good! The fit is very oversized but it reminds me of some much more expensive band tees that I own. It also is made of the same super-soft fabric as the Aerie tees that I own and love. All-around highly recommend, especially if you want tees to wear with leggings and bike shorts!
The bike shorts are a pair I’ve had for over a year but they are also Aerie. I definitely recommend these as well. I went with a medium but they are a little snug with a compression fit. I’d recommend sizing up, especially if you’re in between sizes!
Okay, I know I’ve shared about these shoes so many times before but I just ordered myself a second pair. My last pair after three years and a ton of use started to crack. They had also begun to stain orange from the red clay outside of our new house. So basically, they’re now my strictly outdoor shoes!
I had to have another pair, knowing how much use I’d gotten out of the first pair. They have a supportive footbed but are so much lighter than my typical Birkenstock Arizona sandals. Also these can get wet and be hosed off. They’re my ultimate summer shoe. I even wear these on short walks around the neighborhood. If you haven’t tried them yet, I can’t recommend them enough! Earlier this year they were sold out everywhere, so I was pumped to find them at AE! They also come in other color ways but of course ya girl went with the white for the second time. 😉
JEANS. Are y’all ready for ’em?! This first pair is AE’s highest rise as 12.5″. It has some stretch, which makes them very comfortable, and they do fit TTS. (I’m in the 8 regular length.) I did think they were a little too short on me, and I would prefer the tall length. For those under 5’9″, I’d recommend the regular length. (Just remember I have very, very long legs for my height!) They do have some light distressing at the hip, the busted knee and a step hem. (The front is slightly shorter than the back.)
Besides being a little short on me, I didn’t love the wash. They have a stone washed look to them that is more noticeable close up. The wash gave the jeans a little more of a trendy look to them that wasn’t my style. So, ultimately these are going back. I hope AE comes out with a few more wash options though!
These mom jeans are definitely more my style! They have much more of a classic wash to them. I love the distressing too! They have that perfectly vintage had-’em-forever kind of look! The rise isn’t quite as high with this pair at 11.75″.
These have zero stretch to them and are rigid cotton denim. Keep that in mind when ordering! I recommend sizing up one. That’s what I did here and what I do with all my rigid denim, and the sizing worked!
