Where would fall fashion be without flannel?! They’re a timeless fall wardrobe staple! But this year, the rise in solid flannel shirts has me even more excited. They’re even more classic, wearable, and versatile! To bring you some outfit inspiration, I put together seven white flannel shirt outfits that will carry you into winter!
Seven White Flannel Outfits
When I came across this white flannel top at Outerknown, I instantly fell in love! I love a classic white button down. They are so versatile from casual to dressier outfits! So I knew that this flannel version would seamlessly integrate into my wardrobe. I love that it has the same vibe as my fav button down but with a cold-weather vibe! Plus, it’s cozy. And if I’ve learned anything this year, it’s to value be comfortable! π
Now, if you don’t have a solid flannel, all of these flannel shirt outfits will also work with printed versions! Just grab your plaid and try a few of these outfits! You can also use a plain white button down if that’s what you have in your closet! Let’s go!
Dress with Open Flannel Shirt Outfit
For quick, easy layers, I love throwing on a flannel shirt over a dress! This one is a simple tank dress that becomes fall-ready with a flannel and booties! I prefer the look with a rolled sleeve, but for colder days, I’d just fold at the cuff! You could also knot the tails of the shirt for more of a shirt-and-skirt look! (Remember to tuck the back of the shirt under to keep the look clean.) This combination was one of my favorites during pregnancy and looks so cute with a bump!

Long Cardigan + Leggings Outfit
Love wearing leggings? Me too. But sometimes I want them to look a little more put-together! Enter this combination. My white flannel shirt is long enough to cover the booty, and the long cardigan really pulls it together. To keep the look dressier, stick with a dressier shoe. The clean lines and more pointed toe of my mules gives off a more dressy appearance. Swap for sneakers to get a sportier vibe!

Front Tucked Flannel and Denim Outfit
Does it get anymore classic than this? I love the simplicity of a flannel tucked into denim. The layering options are truly endless here! Jackets, cardigans, sweaters, and ponchos all work. Again, the shoe can make this look. Boots, booties, or mules will create a dressier look. But it would look equally as cute with classic leather sneakers!

Open Flannel Shirt and a Bodysuit Outfit
For a trendier option, I love the look of an open flannel shirt over a bodysuit! Worn this way, the flannel gives off more of a jacket look. The sleeker bodysuit layer also plays off the undone shirt so well. To keep with the trendy vibe, I opted for my combat boots! (See more ways to wear combat boots here!)

Flannel Layered with a Turtleneck Outfit
Another cute layering option for cooler weather is with a turtleneck! Mine is a tissue weight turtleneck that is optimal for layering. But you could also use a slightly heavier knit! I’d just make sure that it’s a closer-to-the-body fit to prevent a look of sloppiness. Wear it either open for a jacket look or buttoned and tucked!

Leggings and a Cargo Jacket Outfit
For another more put-together leggings outfit, I love the addition of a structured jacket like my cargo jacket! Any longer structured jacket would work here. I’d recommend a chore jacket, shacket, or oversized denim jacket! Again, sticking with a dressier shoe helps elevate the outfit. But it would look just as cute with something more casual like a sneaker!

Joggers and Flannel Shirt Outfit
For the ultimate in comfort, I have been loving my flannel top tucked into joggers! It’s the epitome of quarantine fashion, y’all. πIt also works perfectly for zoom. No one will ever know that you’re wearing you’re comfiest pants! With sneakers, I would still feel comfortable wearing this outfit out of the house. But for at-home, you can’t beat comfy slippers. π
