One of my favorite purchases of 2020? A J.Crew sweater blazer tops the list! It is so versatile, working for both casual and dressier outfits alike. Plus it is one of the most comfortable outfit toppers I own. It’s basically a 2020 fashion essential! To show you a few of my favorite ways to wear it, I’m bringing you six sweater blazer outfits!
Six Sweater Blazer Outfits
What I love about this sweater blazer is that it is as soft as your favorite sweater. Comfort for the win! But it also provides the structure of a traditional blazer! I went with the heather khaki color way but it also comes in seven other colors! I would suggest sizing down one. Although I consider a medium my “true size”, I wear a small in J.Crew’s sweater blazers!
Plaid Dress + Sweater Blazer Outfit
Shirt dresses are one of my favorite wardrobe staples. But sometimes I feel uninspired with what to wear with them. Enter the sweater blazer! I love how this feels just as comfortable as a cardigan, but still keeps a slimmer, close-to-the-body fit. The result is a sleek, tailored outfit!
I opted for my booties here, but it would also be so cute with knee high boots! For everyday, I’d also wear my white sneakers! If you don’t have a plaid dress or a shirtdress, you can really layer with any shift-style dress to recreate this same look!

White Jeans + Leopard Booties Outfit
For a more trendy outfit, I love the look of a sleek bodysuit layered with a sweater blazer! Of course, a bodysuit isn’t a necessity to achieve this look. You could easily tuck in a tee or tank! A more relaxed fitting top would also look good here. Just go with whatever you have in your closet!
Also, this color combination is one of my all-time favorites for fall and winter! Consider this your gentle reminder to break out those white jeans for cold weather outfits too! Need more inspo? Check out my five white jeans outfits for fall!

Button Down + Sweater Blazer Outfit
Ultra-classic and timeless, you can’t beat a white button down and blazer outfit! Even though the top pieces could read more professional, by pairing them with a light wash denim and funky leather flat, the look remains more laid-back! Now, if you do want an office-ready version, swap the denim for a dress pant and add some classic flats or a heel!
If you’re not a white button-down kinda gal, no worries. You can substitute any button-front top in your closet. Try a chambray or even a plaid version!

Sweatsuit + Sweater Blazer Outfit
For my casual outfit-lovers, you’ll love this sweat set and blazer combo! What makes this work is the sleek fit of the joggers and sweatshirt. An oversized set wouldn’t look as tailored. The monochromatic set also creates the perfect backdrop for a blazer! Finish off with your favorite pair of sneakers for a chic on-the-go outfit that still feels like pajamas!

Sweater Blazer + Turtleneck Outfit
Is it just me or is there something super-chic about a classic turtleneck? This one has a more modern drapey fit, but it still looks fab under the sweater blazer! Again, I was drawn to a more tonal look with the black turtleneck and washed black denim! But it was fun to add some more browns into the look with my mules! Don’t be afraid to mix tans, browns, and blacks together! They all work!
This is another combination that would be perfect as a professional look with the addition of a dress pant or skirt. You could also take this out for a night with heels or a heeled bootie and some fun statement earrings!

Graphic Tee + Leggings Outfit
Y’all know I couldn’t finish the style session without a leggings look right?! Spanx faux leather leggings are my all-time favorite, and lately I’ve been wearing them just like this! With a long oversized tee, I feel appropriately covered. But the addition of the sweater blazer really completes the look and adds to the effortless, laid-back vibe! If you want even more warmth, go for a long sweatshirt instead!
