Six Thanksgiving Outfit Ideas

What’s your go-to Thanksgiving outfit? We’re normally at our own home or my MIL’s on Thanksgiving Day every year. So, I like to get fully dressed into a cute but comfortable outfit! No pj’s allowed at our dinner table, y’all. 😉 And since you’re looking for Thanksgiving outfits, I’m guessing you want something a little more put-together too! So from dressier options to the ultimate casual options, we’re covering all the bases all with these six Thanksgiving outfit ideas!

Six Thanksgiving Outfit Ideas

It’s a universal thing that we don’t want to wear tight pants on Thanksgiving, right? Good because that’s typically my goal. I’m sharing two leggings outfits, a dressy elastic waistband look (oh YES!), and even a comfy sweater dress option! Plus, for those of you denim die-hards, I got you covered too!

Turtleneck, Cardigan, and Denim Outfit

If I’m going to wear denim on Thanksgiving, it has got to be soft. And this pair is! It’s one of my current favorites since it seems to have just a little more space at the waist. Plus the denim is so soft! To keep it cozy, I paired my denim with a tissue-weight turtleneck and a cropped grandpa-style cardigan!

Cropped button-front cardigans are one of the most popular sweater styles right now. They’re perfect for layering! You could also swap out the turtleneck for a regular ole long sleeve tee. A graphic tee could also be a fun option for a trendier vibe!

Lastly, the pointed toe boot, elevates the look. For staying at home, I’d probably just throw on my favorite white sneakers or a pair of mules. But dress up the look just a touch, a bootie is the perfect finishing touch!

Leather Leggings, Flannel Button Down, and Sweater Blazer Outfit

You can’t get more classic than a white button down and blazer combo! But with the leggings, this outfit stays more casual and comfortable to boot! The flannel material of the shirt also helps relax the look! (I previously styled this white flannel button down seven ways if you’re looking for more inspo!)

You could easily just layer with a cardigan, but I do like that the sweater blazer offers a more tailored, sleek finish to the outfit! It’s the perfect mix between cardigan and blazer! (Check out my six sweater blazer outfits here to see its versatility!)

Tunic Sweater, Leggings, and Combat Boots Outfit

I couldn’t share Thanksgiving Outfit Ideas without a tunic sweater, right?! It’s an all-time classic. Tunic sweater plus leggings and BOOM. Instant comfy, cute Turkey Day style. But to make it a little trendier, I went with my fav combat boots! (Seven combat boot outfits here!) I never thought I’d be a combat boot kinda girl, but these are all-day comfort boots! Another trendy yet comfortable option would be a flat over the knee boot!

Sweater Dress and Over the Knee Boots Outfit

This is another outfit combination that needs little explanation. Sweater dresses are another Thanksgiving Day staple! They’re cozy, comfortable, and have zero waistband. Y’all are down for that, right?!

This exact sweater dress is a recent find from Madewell! I adore the colorblocking and color combination! The earthy colors just scream fall! Plus, they could not match any better to a cognac boot!

If over the knee boots aren’t your thing though, the dress would look equally as cute with a brown bootie or mule! You could also do the brown version of my combat boots! They’d also match perfectly with a cozy sock!

Sweater and Wide Leg Pants Outfit

For my dressier folks, this outfit is for you! It still nails the comfort factor with a cozy sweater and elastic-back pants. (Yup, you heard right. These pants look fancy but the back is elastic 🙌🏼!)

The pants are made of a dressier fabric that flows so well. But I like that they can also be dressed down! Want to wear them with sneakers? No problem! But they look equally as cute with heels!

For the sweater, I did an under-the-bra tuck here. I typically front-tuck into my pants, but since these are a dressier fabric, the sweater created some bulging at the waistline. Just tuck the bottom hem of the sweater under and into your bra band. With a longer sweater or higher rise bottoms, it’s the perfect solution!

Fleece Turtleneck and Jogger Pants Outfit

Want to know what I’m wearing for Thanksgiving? Right now, this combination is feeling like it. In fact, as I’m typing, I’m still wearing it. It’s that comfortable!! The turtleneck is a lightweight fleece that feels so stinkin’ soft on. Plus it’s warm and cozy! And the pants? Joggers for the win!!

Why this works so well is that neither of the pieces are too oversized. By keeping everything slightly more tailored to the body, it prevents the outfit from being sloppy. If you needed another layer, you could always throw on a denim jacket for a little extra warmth. If you have to leave the house, you could also add a long tailored coat for a chic touch!
