It has been a while since I’ve been this excited about a new try on! But when the new Walmart Free Assembly Fall line came out, I about gasped. It’s Madewell/Everlane vibes to a t, and everything is under $45. YUP. It’s all under $45. And the denim is under $30! Get ready to be mind-blown!!
Walmart Free Assembly Fall Try On
I ordered a good mix of items, including denim, sweaters, tops, dresses, and jackets. Besides the style of the items (which I love), I also love the Free Assembly line’s commitment to sustainable fabrics and production! If you want more info, read my initial Free Assembly review where I go into all of those details! Otherwise, let’s get to the try on!
My Sizing
For reference, I’m 5’7 1/2″ with a short torso and very long legs! I typically wear a 29 in jeans or a size 8. My bra size is a 36C, and I typically wear a size medium (or 8) top.
If you ever have any question about what size I’m wearing, check the links below each image! I list any recommendations I have for sizing up or down for quick reference. (TTS= true to size!) For full details, I’ll be chatting all about quality, style, and fit in the paragraphs above each photo. Let’s go!
Puff Sleeve Top + Wide Leg Cropped Jeans
How cute is this puff sleeve top? It feels like a lightweight sweater and is made of 100% organic cotton! The shoulder has a very subtle puff with a balloon sleeve. I love the olive and navy blue stripe combination but it also comes in burgundy and navy stripe as well! Fits true to size. I’m in a medium.
I love the style of these cropped wide leg jeans. They fit very slim through the hips with a straight leg. The crop hits me a few inches above my ankle bone at 5’7.5″ with long legs. The composition is 98% organic cotton, 2% elastane, which feels pretty stiff with slight stretch. The denim is very substantial with a vintage feel! I sized up one but still found these snug in the waist. The cut might be a little better suited for those with a more defined waistline than I have, but I do love these!

Teddy Cocoon Coat
This teddy coat is one of my favorite pieces from the order! Its lighter weight, making it a great transitional piece or something that could be layered over the winter months. The details are gorgeous too with a flat collar, darker brown trim, and reinforced button holes. It’s the perfect mix of retro and classic that I love! And bonus: it’s so soft and cozy! While the outside is a teddy fabric, the inside is fleece! It fits TTS. I’m in a medium.

Plaid Boyfriend Blazer + Wide Leg Cropped Jeans
Another crown jewel of the Free Assembly fall line is this plaid boyfriend blazer! Warning: it does have small pads in the shoulders but I don’t find them too bulky. They’re very minimal. The plaid is beautiful with a mix of gray, mustard, and cream. It’s coming off much more cooler toned in this photo but the website image is a more accurate color representation! I did find this to be a little snug through the shoulders on me! So if you do have broader shoulders, I’d suggest sizing up.

90’s Straight Leg Jeans
The full-length straight leg jeans have a very similar cut to the previous cropped pair but with a more relaxed fit. These are a little less slim through the thighs and waist. And even though they have a higher cotton count (99% organic cotton, 1% elastane), they feel lighter weight and more flexible than the other pair as well. I sized up in these and find them more comfortable through the waist on me. But for those of you with slimmer waists, you may want to stay true to size.

Corduroy Chore Jacket + 90’s Straight Leg Jeans
It was love at first sight with this corduroy jacket! The color is so rich and it’s incredibly soft and flexible! Plus I love the boxy, shirt-jacket like fit! This is a great alternative to the oversized shirt jackets out there simply because it’s more cropped. For those of you who are more petite, this style of jacket will be the perfect alternative! It also comes in cream and black and fits relaxed but true to size. For a more classic tailored fit, size down one.

Collared Cardigan + 90’s Straight Leg Jeans
Collared sweaters are big for fall and I love that this one can be worn buttoned or open as a cardigan. I sized down for less of an oversized look, and I like the more cropped fit. The yarn is speckled and both the collar and buttons are oversized. It also comes in brown!

Plaid Button Down + 90’s Straight Leg Jeans
I forgot to take a still image, so you’re welcome for the awkward screen shots. This is the perfect fall plaid button down. It’s substantial, soft, and made of 100% organic cotton. The fit is more of a boyfriend style that looks great both buttoned and unbuttoned. It comes in three other color ways but I’m a bit partial to this blue, brown, and cream combo!

Corduroy Chore Jacket + Plaid Button Down + 90’s Straight Leg Jeans
Hello, instant fall. I would swap these mules for a pair of booties and go!

Teddy Cocoon Jacket + Plaid Button Down + 90’s Straight Leg Jeans
Such a chic combo! This is a more classic pairing and I could not love it more!

Flutter Midi Dress
If you’re looking for a great basic fall dress, this one is wonderful. It also does a great job of adding curves for those of you who have straighter figures or want to define a waistline. I’m also just a sucker for a flutter sleeve. This could easily be worn now and well into fall with tall boots, booties, or lace-up style boots! It comes in three other colors and fits TTS.

Denim Tiered Maxi Dress
Y-E-S. You should know by now that I’m a denim-aficionada, and yes, that extends to denim dresses. This one is a beautiful, relaxed, boho cut. It has a split-v neckline, balloon sleeves, and tiers. It hits mid-calf on me. I’m in a medium and like the fit, but you could definitely size down, especially if you’re on the more petite side.

Teddy Cocoon Coat + Denim Tiered Maxi Dress
With some brown booties or tall boots, this ‘fit would be IT!

V-Neck Jumpsuit
For some reason, I assumed this jumpsuit would be more of a casual fabric, but it feels more like a heavy crepe. It could easily pull dressy or more casual, depending on how you style it! Scroll down to see an example of a more casual look! But if you’re looking for a fall wedding or holiday option, definitely consider this one!!

Dress it down by layering with a short sleeve tee, long sleeve tee or turtleneck! You could also add booties! For dressier looks, swap for heels and statement jewelry!
