Have you heard of the coastal grandmother style trend that’s currently taking over social media? It’s all about dressing in chic beach-friendly attire. (Think: Diane Keaton in Something’s Gotta Give!) And if you ask me, there is nothing more beach chic than a white linen shirt. It’s a warm weather classic, regardless of if you’re embracing the current trend or not. And it’s one piece you’ll wear for years! Wondering how to wear it? White Linen Shirt Outfits
I bought this short sleeve white linen shirt from J.Crew last summer and am so happy they brought it back again this year! Although I’m a sucker for a classic white linen shirt, it also comes in five other colors, including a tan shade that I’m crushing on! The fit is very relaxed but I am in my true size medium. Staying true to size will give you a little extra length, but size down if you’d prefer a more tailored (but still relaxed) fit.
Linen Shirt with Camp Shorts
For the ultimate casual yet polished summer outfit, I love pairing my linen shirt with shorts. While it works perfectly with denim shorts, I especially love it paired with a pair of tailored camp shorts. There is something very effortless about the pairing. The shorts, like the top, fit somewhat relaxed. But what makes these two work together is the slimmer waist and straight cut of the legs. To avoid an all-over oversized fit, make sure to pair with bottoms that are slightly more tailored, at least through the waist and hip!
Linen Shirts and Jeans Outfit
Another absolute classic! Pairing the linen shirt with straight leg jeans and heeled sandals feels a little more elevated. Want to keep it even more casual? Swap for a minimalist flat leather sandal like these. The addition of a straw hat also brings a casual vibe to the outfit. But losing it and adding a statement earring would dress take the look to a dressier level.
Linen Pants Outfit
Linen and linen together? It’s the ultimate is summer chic style! If you aren’t into a super matchy-matchy jumpsuit-type look, mixing colors of linen is a great alternative. While you could also keep your linen top buttoned and tucked into linen pants, I love this knotted look layered with a tank as well! Heading on vacation? Be sure to pack your linen top! In addition to plenty of day to night outfit options, it also makes the perfect swim cover-up! Since the fit of this one is relaxed with a slightly longer tail, it fully covers the booty. You could also tie it up over your swimsuit for another cover-up option!
