There is nothing like that first batch of fall finds after summer. And this early Fall Madewell try on will not disappoint. I’m a little embarassed about how many items I brought home with me, but these fall staples are so good, you’ll see why I love them!

My Sizing

For reference, I’m 5’7 1/2″ with a short torso and very long legs! I typically wear a 29 in jeans or a size 8. My bra size is a 36C, and I typically wear a size medium (or 8) top.

Early Fall Madewell Try On

Ruffle Collar Top + Flare Jeans

It’s no secret that I love a ruffle detail, so this top instantly spoke to me! On the model it’s much more cropped, but it hit past my natural waist, which allowed for a little tuck! The buttons are functional, and I love the texture of the light sweater too! I’m in a medium.

And the jeans!! This is my first flare denim purchase in years, and I love them. These are a thicker, more rigid feeling denim with the slightest amount of give to keep them comfortable. The rise is high and the length is perfection for me at 5’7.5″ with long legs. I’m in a 27.

Plaid Wrap Top + Denim Skirt

Ever since seeing this plaid wrap top online I knew I had to try it! It has statement sleeves and a true wrap design. It does fit slightly on the small side. I’d say a medium would be best for a 6/8. My bustier ladies will want to size up!

Are you ready to embrace denim mini skirts again? ‘Cause I am! This one is a straight fit with a clean dark rinse. It’s made of 100% rigid cotton and has zero stretch. So, if you’re in between, err on the side of a size up. I’m in a size 28.

Plaid Maxi Dress

Layla was so sad when I didn’t take this home with me. And looking back on the photos, I kind of wish I had too! It’s such a beautiful mix of brown, black, and tan, which is my favorite fall combination! The dress has a smocked square neckline, is fully lined, and has an easy tiered fit. I’m in a medium but would prefer a small. Size down if in between.

Sweater Tank + Wide Leg Jeans

Obsessed with this color combination and the fit of both of these! The tank has a higher neck with functional button-front design. It’s ribbed, soft and lightweight. I’m in a medium. Madewell also make a matching sweater short, but I prefer the top worn with denim!

And the denim! These have a slight stretch and high waist. I’m in my typical Madewell size 28 here but ended up taking home the size 27.

Denim Dress

I have tried on and considered buying this dress every fall for the last two years now. I fell in love with it the first time I tried it on and have truly been thinking about it since. So, I finally did it. Even though I already have a black button-front dress, I knew it was time to actually take this baby home. The fit is perfectly relaxed. I love the soft washed black denim and the oversized pockets. I’m in a small and would recommend sizing down, especially if in between. Wear it with everything from boots to sneakers!

Felt Hat

I love a good fall hat, and this one comes in three different colors. I originally thought I’d prefer the lighter version, but when I tried on this richer brown, it was an instant win. It’s a one-size option with an adjustable ribbon tie inside. Highly, highly recommend! This one came home with me!

Denim Shirt Jacket

Looking for a heavy weight shirt jacket made of denim? This is it! It is quilted and lined inside and has an oversized fit. I am wearing a medium but I would prefer a size small. I would recommend sizing down one. You’ll still get the oversized look.

Striped Sweater

This is the perfect striped sweater for fall and winter! It is a cream sweater with dark navy stripe that can pull blue or black, making it super versatile. And the fit! It had the perfect amount of slouch. It has dropped shoulders and a relaxed fit through the body. I size down one to a small and it still fits oversized.

Houndstooth Blazer

I’m loving the mix of olive green and brown in this houndstooth blazer. It has a more classic fit. I size down to a small but when paired with a sweater, the arms were a bit snug. If you want to layer for fall and winter, I’d suggest sticking with your true size.

Light Denim Shirt Jacket

If you’re looking for a lighter shirt jacket option, I suggest going with this light denim version. And it still has structure, but feels slightly heavier than your average chambray top. The fit is oversized, so I suggest sizing down one. I’m wearing a small.
