Thanks to Walmart for partnering with me for this post.
Summer is one of the hardest times of the year for me style-wise. I tend to fall into a rut of workout clothes and oversized t-shirts. But I’m determined to have a stylish summer, while still staying comfy, of course. So, I turned to Walmart, placing an order for the best Walmart summer staples! Chic summer outfits, here we come!
Walmart Summer Staples
When it comes to Walmart summer staples, my favorite brands to turn to are Scoop, Free Assembly, and Time and Tru. They do a great job of creating fashion-forward pieces that are still classic enough to last you through several seasons! Plus, all of my picks are so versatile, you’ll be able to mix and match them all summer long.
For reference, I’m 5’7 1/2″ with a short torso and very long legs! I typically wear a 29 in jeans or a size 8. My bra size is a 36C, and I typically wear a size medium (or 8) top.
If you ever have any question about what size I’m wearing, check the links below each image! I list any recommendations I have for sizing up or down for quick reference. (TTS= true to size!) For full details, I’ll be chatting all about quality, style, and fit in the paragraphs above each photo. Let’s go!
When I think of wardrobe staples, an LBD is at the top of my list. This one can easily be dressed up and down, making it even more versatile! It has adjustable straps, an elastic waistband, and tiers. The fabric is a crisp cotton Lycocell blend, perfect for the hottest days. To dress it up, I’d wear statement earrings, heels, and a bold lipstick. But for everyday, I’d just pair it with flat sandals or sneakers! Fit is a bit generous with the elastic waist and easy fit. I’m in a medium. It also comes in coral, olive green, and chambray.
I have been living in button downs this summer. They add a classic vibe that instantly elevates a look. I love that this one has a bit of a mix between a cap and sleeveless design. It’s perfect for hot summer days. I love it paired with these denim shorts I shared in my recent Walmart summer outfits post! Remember to size up 1-2 in them! I went up two sizes!
A classic white tee is an every-season staple, but they’re even more of a go-to during the summer months. With a crewneck and boxy fit, this Free Assembly tee will be a wardrobe fav! It does run super-oversized though. Size down and you’ll still get the boxy fit you’re looking for! (I’m in a medium here but would prefer a small.)
This bodysuit is another item from my recent Walmart summer outfits post, but I had to bring it back because it is 100% a summer staple! I love that it’s double-lined and has a full-coverage butt coverage.
And these shorts!! If you’ve been wanting to dip your toe into the trouser short trend, let these be the ones that convince you. They’re made of a super-soft stretchy material that is just so comfy. You’ll feel like you’re wearing sweatshorts instead of trousers! They fit true to size.
I can’t imagine summer without a light, breezy mini dress. And this 100% cotton one is a winner! The body is definitely on the oversized side, so I recommend sizing down one. My only cavaet is if you have more muscular arms. The sleeves do not have stretch to them. (But if you have a similar body type to mine, you should be able to size down!) It also comes in green, white, and a bright floral print!
Dress (runs large. Size down if in between)
