Realistic Thanksgiving Outfits for Moms

Have you ever gone searching for holiday outfit inspiration and been met with the most unrealistic outfits you’ve ever seen? I’m sorry, but I’m not going to be showing up for Thanksgiving dinner in spanx. As a busy mom, I’m just hoping I can get my sides done on time, the kids ready, and still feel presentable at the table. So I put together realistic Thanksgiving outfits for moms that you’ll actually want to wear and more importantly, feel good in.

Jeans on Thanksgiving can be a controversial take, but I personally tend to err on the soft pants side. (You know, nothing hard, restrictive, or without an elastic waistband.) So comfy girls, this one’s for you.

Realistic Thanksgiving Outfits

We’re starting with the most casual option and what you’ll most likely see me in on Thanksgiving Day. We’re not a pjs-all-day kinda family, but since we typically just celebrate with immediate family, we don’t get too dressed up either. I always enjoy a slightly elevated lounge look like this.

The sweater pants are beyond comfortable–so soft and stretchy. Paired with a cozy cardigan, it’s the perfect elevated lounge look. Plus I love a monochromatic moment in rich shades of brown.

Cardigan | Pants | Slippers

For guests at home, I would step it up a notch and go with these pants. They’re sneaky-comfortable. While the front has your typical button and zipper fly, the back waist panel is completely elastic. Add neutral tones with a cozy sweater and you’re set. Plus, I cannot recommend these loafers enough. They feel like slippers but don’t give off pajama vibes!

Sweater | Tee | Pants | Loafers

If you have a Friendsgiving on your calendar, go for this dress! It’s a light denim fabric, and has an elastic back panel for comfort. It’s structure and fit allow it to flow over the lower belly, and it doesn’t cling anywhere. Plus, it’s on-trend without being overly dressy or overdone.

Dress | Similar Boots

For a dinner where I want to step it up just a smidge more, a dress like this has Thanksgiving written all over it. It’s light, flowy, and such a rich festive color. For heading to the in-laws’ home for dinner, it is my pick! Like the previous dress, it has a beautiful flowy fit that doesn’t cling. Its elastic waistband keeps it comfortable, and the length makes it easy for still getting down on the floor with kids. It’s one you’ll get a ton of use out of the entire holiday season!
