Six months. SIX MONTHS. I have a SIX MONTH OLD.

Weight: 17 pounds! (65th percentile) Her height is 27 inches (85th percentile). 

Eating: I feel like a broken record, but little girl loves her food. She’s eating a meal of fruit puree in the morning and veggies at night along with breast milk every four hours during the day. She certainly knows her schedule too. About 15 minutes before eating time she starts to fuss and reach for me! Her pediatrician advised that we could also start feeding her a lunch of pureed meats, so I will be starting that this week!

Sleep: I have the best news: we’re sleeping! Hip hip horray! After only a day or two of sleep training last month, Layla caught on and began sleeping through the night. (And not the 5-6 hour “sleeping through the night”.) Little one sleeps from about 6:30 pm until around 6 or 6:30 am. I can’t tell you how much better I function with sleep. And as much as I love that little munchkin, it is SO NICE to actually be able to eat dinner with my husband and watch a TV show together before going to bed. Sleep training wasn’t nearly as bad as we had envisioned. In fact, we both wondered why we tortured ourselves so long without doing it sooner!

Clothes: She is in 3-6 month clothes!

Mood: Just as happy and sweet as she can be. She’s gotten more affectionate these days and will pull my face towards hers. Layla also loves kisses. She giggles and squeals up a storm when I kiss her cheeks. She still has been timid in unfamiliar places or with new people. It takes her a while to warm up, but once’s she comfortable, she’ll let other people hold her and play.

I feel like I have a “big girl” baby. She’s sitting up solo without support and reaching and grabbing for toys like a pro (aaaand throwing them too!). She rides in the shopping cart in the big kid seat and is constantly trying to nab the laptop and clack on the keys like mommy. She responds to her name and knows the word “binky.” I love watching her pick up the bink and put it in her own mouth. If she smiles, she knows to grab it and put it back it so it doesn’t fall. It’s the cutest thing! She’s also sitting up in the bathtub and playing with squirt toys. My favorite time of the day is right before nap time. She gets so snuggly in my lap while I read her books. I don’t want to ever imagine a time where she won’t want to cuddle anymore!
