A few months ago I finally got fed up with the disorganized mess that was my makeup drawer. To say it was a disaster would be an understatement. I could never find my makeup brushes or truly anything I was looking for. My first thought was to purchase a fancy acrylic drawer organizer. But after trying a few options (and being quite underwhelmed with the results), I turned to a quick, easy solution: this dollar store makeup drawer organization DIY! For under $5 and less than an hour of time, I could not be happier with the results!

Don’t judge me for the before! Believe it or not, all of this makeup, even everything spread out on the counter was all stuffed in my tiny makeup drawer. We only have two drawers in our bathroom, so I didn’t have the space to spread out. In actuality, that might be better because I probably would have destroyed multiple drawers instead of one! But I really couldn’t find anything– ever. Getting dressed in the morning was incredibly frustrating. 

So off to the dollar store we went. Below the organizers that I picked up. I spent about $6 total. And the best part is that I was able to organize both drawers in the bathroom with these! My makeup drawer organization only ended up costing around $3!

What I love about these over the acrylic versions is that the are deeper and wider. I was able to mix them and organize them to perfectly fit the drawer.

I separated all my face makeup brushes into a longer separator. My foundation and concealer went into a white basket. In another, I placed all my eye makeup brushes, eyeliner, and primer.

I also separated my face powder, blush, bronzer, highlighter, and eyebrow powder into another white basket.

Once I had everything organized, I really wished I had one more white basket; however, those came in a set of three. So, to create an additional separator, I placed one white basket into a larger acrylic one. It worked perfectly!

Lastly, my eye makeup palettes fit perfectly into another longer basket along with my mascara.

It really could not have been quicker or easier to organize my makeup drawer. I don’t know why I didn’t do it sooner! It’s made my morning routine go so much more smoothly. And believe it or not, months later, everything is still organized!
