If y’all have been following on Instagram, then you know that I just got home from a big trip to NYC with Jambu. I’m seriously almost at a loss for words because it was one of those once-in-a-lifetime experiences, definitely a pinch-me-how-did-I-get-here kinda 24 hours! And I am so excited to get to share more of it with y’all today!
Y’all might not remember, but I first worked with Jambu almost a year ago on this post. It was my first experience trying their shoes, and let me tell ya: it was instant love. Jambu combines the best of fashion and function for everyday adventures (aka chasing after a toddler! Or going to the grocery store! Or maybe even that rare date night with the hubs!). Because, let’s be honest, being comfortable in my shoes is actually important too! (I wish I could go back and tell my 18 year old self…?) When I worked with Jambu then, I had no idea that I’d ever be able to participate in something like this NYC trip. But like I said, it was a dream come true.
We kicked things off with a fun welcome dinner at Beauty & Essex. And let me tell y’all: if you find yourself in the East Village, just go. There wasn’t a single thing that wasn’t absolutely delicious! (And we would know after trying maybe ten dishes?! In our defense, they were all tapas-style perfect for sharing!) We all chatted and got to know each other a little before the big event the next day. I’m normally a pass-out-at-nine-pm kinda gal, but the energy and excitement had me pumped! I had the hardest time going to sleep that night…and then woke up at like four, worrying about sleeping in! ?
For the first night, I wore this adorbs green dress and my fav comfortable heels, which I’ll be sharing more of in an upcoming post! ?

The next morning we met up for a breakfast at Norma’s. (It’s located in the Parker Hotel, and y’all, the Huevos Rancheros were A-MAZE.) Then we headed over to the Hearst building to meet with the team at Good Housekeeping Magazine! Our visit was truly fascinating!
I was amazed to learn that the labs for testing products to receive the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval were actually in the building, right alongside the editorial team. We learned about the vigorous testing products undergo to receive approval and even got a little behind-the-scenes sneak peek of upcoming reviews! (Let’s just say if you’re in the market for new towels, keep your eyes peeled for the May issue!! ?)

And after all that we actually got to sit down and eat lunch with some of the team members, including the Style Director (Lori Bergamotto) and Fashion Director (Kristen Saladino)! I absolutely loved hearing their take on style and trends. Plus we got a little dish on a couple of their fav recent cover ladies! (Apparently Tracey Ellis Ross and Diane Keaton were amazing to work with!)
My experience at Good Housekeeping was enough to put the whole trip over the top for me, but we weren’t done for the day! We still had to hit up some iconic NYC spots for street photography and a tour! Some of my favorite snaps of the day were actually just in the subway, but I also loved the sweet bump photos our photographer Di shot of me in Bryant Park!
Although I opted for my heels for earlier in the day, once we started doing some serious walking I swapped for comfortable sandals for hoofing it around the city!

To finish up the day, we went on a tour of Grand Central Station. Although I had popped in quickly during a previous visit to NYC, I really didn’t know any of the history. It was so interesting to learn about the terminal’s origins (the original Grand Central Depot was funded by Cornelius Vanderbilt!) and also some hidden secrets (like did you know that there is a tennis club hidden inside?!).

After grabbing one last meal together, I was exhausted. But it was hard saying goodbye to everyone! Even though we really only knew each other for 24 hours, it felt like we had formed our own little team. And it was so fun getting to share the experience with all of them!
The trip was not only fun, but I learned so much. And y’all, if I loved Jambu before, now I am full-on obsessed. They were so wonderful to work with. The shoes are designed for women by women, which means they know exactly what women are looking for in terms of style, function, and fashion. Design details like memory foam footbed and Terra Traction (which both pairs of my shoes had!), mean you can seriously comfortably walk all day long. Be sure to check out all the new arrivals and don’t forget to use code LAURENM18 for 20% off any purchase at Jambu.com through June 30, 2018!
I love the heels you are wearing! I haven’t tried Jambu yet. I have held off because I want something that’s stylish and comfortable and doesn’t scream “I’m wearing a comfort shoe” lol, yours don’t at all. I love them!
This looks like such a fun time!! And New York City is the perfect place to test out whether shoes really pass the comfort test! I don’t have many shoes I can wear there while walking around all day.
