28 Weeks Pregnancy Update

It’s official: I’m finally in the third trimester and the end is in sight. Baby will be here in two months!! Hello, panic mode. At 28 weeks pregnant, I’m starting to feel weary of being pregnant but simultaneously, I am so not ready for baby to actually be here! We have so much more prep to do around the house, and I just want to enjoy these last weeks with Layla as my only baby!

Dress (non-maternity!)

How far along are you? 28 weeks

All about baby: The sonogram tech estimated she is 2 lbs 10oz, which puts her in the 48th percentile! She is tracking to be a very average-sized baby. Layla was 7.5 lbs at birth and this little one seems to be right on track to be about the same size! She can now open her eyes and is practicing breathing. We actually got to see her breathing exercises during the sonogram! It was so neat! We also got a really good look at baby’s heart, and everything looks great! She is currently head down and apparently enjoys burying her head in my pelvis. I guess that would explain all the punches I’ve been feeling in my bladder. One minute fine, the next minute it feels like an imminent bladder explosion. Thanks, kid. ?

Have you decided on a name? We might actually be getting closer! We were working with a list of about four, and now I think it’s down to two options. I’m still feeling squirmy about making a final decision though! Like I’ve mentioned, Layla’s name was a day-of decision from about three options. The planner-side of me wants to decide for monogram and nursery design purposes, but then I worry I’ll change my mind when I see her! I’m trying not to put too much pressure on myself!

Are you having any cravings? The amount of watermelon being consumed in my household right now is alarming. ? We went through three in a little over a week. I’ve pretty much decided that they need to be purchased in multiples at this point! I’ve also still been craving chocolate a few days a week. Chocolate chip cookies for the win!

Weight Gain: 16 lbs

How are you feeling? Pretty great overall! I’m still feeling pretty energetic, but something about that third trimester, y’all. This week the pains and the Braxton Hicks contractions have kicked up something fierce! When I picked up Layla out of the pool earlier this week, I pulled an ab muscle and was struggling for a day or two! Doing anything basic, like, uh, standing up, would give me sharp pains up my side. ? Thankfully I recovered quickly, but it seems anytime I get up from the floor or walk for a few minutes, contractions start. They only last a few moments to minutes, but I don’t remember this happening until way later with Layla! My belly is also bigger earlier this time, so maybe that’s it?

How are you sleeping? Pretty well! I’d estimate I’m waking up 2-3 times a night, but I always fall right back asleep (after a trip to the bathroom, of course ?).

Baby Prep: Still pretty much nada. We did finally schedule our flooring to be replaced, which includes new carpeting in baby’s room. I guess that’s a step? We’ve been waiting on doing more nursery decorating until that was done, so at least we’re moving in the right direction!

Best moment of the week: Our latest sonogram! Baby was not really cooperating. She was facing my spine for the entire appointment, so we didn’t get a single look at her face! (And therefore we got no sonogram photos! ?) But her growth and heart looked great. The MFM doc cleared me for normal care from here on out! ?? That does mean no more sonograms unless something comes up, but I’m so happy to have a healthy baby.

I love your maxi dress! You look so cute! Where does the time go?! My friend recently just gave birth. It’s crazy to think she was already due like you are in two months. I say enjoy the time without baby and so long you got necessities for when she comes you are good to go! Okay just my two cents. We did so much prep for my son before his arrival and his room and all kinds of stuff was ready but baby boy and my body had something else in mind. Ended up getting a C-section and since we have a two story house, didn’t even use literally anything from his room!
