Fall Universal Thread Clothing Reviews

Alright, we’re starting with clothes. I noticed almost everything I picked up was from the Universal Thread line, but there are a few A New Day items thrown in here too! Let’s get started! Keep in mind that I am 9 months pregnant, but I’ll be listing size details with every item!

Dress

Dress (XL)

I actually thought I had grabbed this in a large, but it was on an incorrect hanger. So while I thought it ran a little large, I’d say it’s actually TTS. The cross-over neckline is very flattering! This is a great transitional dress that could be worn to the office or on the weekends. I’d also layer it with a cozy cream cardigan.

Stripe Tank Dress

Dress (L)

This is my kind of dress. I feel like I always find one of these t-shirt style dresses during try-on sessions, but what I like more about this one is that it’s a bit heavier. It almost has a light sweater look to it, but it’s not too hot. Length is midi, which also makes it great to wear to the office (layer with a collared shirt, cardigan, or blazer!) or on the weekend. Everyone needs a dress like this in their wardrobe! It’s also under $25! Fit is TTS with stretch.

Cocoon Cardigan + Dress

Cardigan (M) | Dress (L)

I had to try on this cardi the moment I saw it! It reminds me so much of this Nordstrom cardigan but less than half the price! It also comes in eleven other colors. The only difference is the sizing. The Target one is a little closer to the body and less oversized. But if you want the oversized look you could easily just size up one. Seriously, save yourself the money and grab this one!

Short Sleeve Chambray Top + Dress

Chambray top (L) | Dress (L)

If you’re in need of a short sleeve chambray button down, I love this one. I actually bought one from Old Navy earlier this spring, but I like this one better! The sleeve length is flattering and the roll definitely reminds me of Madewell. The medium wash is also perfect for year-round wear.

Stripe Tank + Chambray Tunic + Faux Leather Leggings

Tank (L) | Chambray (M) | Leggings (L) — Also in plus

Another chambray favorite! I am in LOVE with the length of this one. The tunic length is perfect for leggings. Or you can also always tuck it into skirts or jeans too! Fit is relaxed.

And onto the leggings. These are high rise and have a faux leather look. At the price point, $16, they are a great option! I will say that they in no way compare to the Spanx ones. They aren’t as thick, the faux leather look isn’t as high-end looking, and they will not suck you in like Spanx. Buuuut if you just want the look, that price is awesome.

Henley Tank

Tank (Large)

I love this basic henley tank. Fit is relaxed with functioning buttons that are great for nursing. It’s  also perfect for layering into fall. I’ve already been wearing this one!

Wrap Tank Top

Top (L)

This top was probably my favorite thing I tried on. The wrap detail is so flattering and I love the knot too! There is a button fastener to keep it closed, but it can be easily unbuttoned for nursing. It also comes in black and pink. Fit is relaxed.

Ruffle Tank + Olive Cardigan

Tank (XL) – not available online in yellow | Cardigan (M)

The mustard yellow of this tank instantly drew me in, but it was the very last one in store! I also couldn’t find it online in this color. But I do love the red one! It’s a great wear now and later piece for layers.

This cardi was a piece I was super-pumped about trying! I love the color and the texture. Fit is oversized but I’d recommend staying to your true size for a laid-back, relaxed fit. It’s long enough for leggings and also comes in black and burgundy!

Button Down Tank Top

Top (M)

Such a cute twist on the classic button down. The side tie details definitely make it bump-friendly, but I’d recommend sizing up if pregnant. It’s also another nursing-friendly option!

Tank

Tank (M)

I grabbed this tank because it reminded me of this Nordstrom one! The Target version is more casual tee-like fabric, but it’s also $50 less! The color and style are super-similar though! I’d definitely save the money and get this version!

Tank + Cardigan

Tank (M) | Cardigan (M)

I couldn’t help layer up these two. How perfect is this combo for Fall?

Jacket + Tank

Jacket (M) | Tank (L)

I grabbed this anorak last minute and man, I’m glad I did. It ended up going home with me! It’s a super-light packable fabric that is also rain resistant. I also like that it has a bit of structure, which makes it figure-flattering! It also has a hood! Of course I couldn’t find it online in this color, but it is available in olive and black online! I saw both in person and liked them as well!

Target Fall Shoes + Booties!

Now onto the shoes! I was seriously impressed with a few of these pairs of shoes I tried! As far as fit goes, my feet are pretty narrow, which sometimes means I find myself sizing down in boots or booties. (My typical size is a 9!) I’ll let you know exactly what size I’m wearing below each photo!

V-Cut Bootie

Bootie (8.5)

I liked the style and look of these but found them to be pretty stiff. You definitely get what you pay for price-wise with these! If you need a cheapie pair of booties (under $25!), check ’em out. Otherwise, I’d skip these! They do also come in black.

Slides

Slides (9)

Another “meh” for me. I was really excited to try these since the Free People version is all the rage. But again, they definitely had a plastic-y, stiff feel. These are another pair that are under $25 though. So if you just want to try the trend without committing, these might be for you. They also come in black and gold.

Faux Suede Bootie

Bootie (9)

These were a YES from me. I love the style. I love the color. The price point is still awesome! They are a little bit taller than your average bootie (above the ankle bone), but I actually liked that. These would be the perfect booties to wear with dresses and skirts. For pants, you might have to roll the hem a bit! The heel is totally comfortable (under 3 inches). They also come in black but the black version is not sueded.

Braided Bootie

Bootie (8 — needed at 8.5)

I liked the braided design of these. They are also a cool gray mixed with taupe color. I didn’t find them super-comfortable but that could also be because of the size. I really needed them in an 8.5, so they were a little snug. They also did feel a little rubbery. These are better than the first pair, but still not my favorite.

Faux Suede Perforated Bootie

universal thread dylan bootie - | 9 pairs of target fall shoes reviewed! bylaurenm.com

Bootie (8.5 but could have gone with an 8 – wide)

For the price, these looked like much more expensive booties! The ones I tried were a beautiful dusty gray color but they also come in a light taupe. I loved the look of them but they were just a little wide on my foot. I probably would have had to size down to an 8 to make them work. These I definitely recommend.

Heeled Faux Suede Bootie

Bootie (8.5)

These booties were my absolute fav! I loved everything about them. The fit and the style are perfect! Plus they also come in black and olive (which I’m particularly lusting after!)! The only downside? The 3.5 inch heel is a bit taller than what I normally go for, but I still love them! Plus, they look a lot like these booties, which I actually already own.

Studded Loafer Mule

target studded loafer mules - a new day loafer mules | 9 pairs of target fall shoes reviewed! bylaurenm.com

Mule (9)

Loafer mules are all the rage this fall, and I love the studded details on these too. They also come in white, which I actually might like even more! They are very thick and not at all flimsy. You can’t beat the price either – under $25!

Studded Pointed Toe Mules

target studded heel mule - universal thread crista | 9 pairs of target fall shoes reviewed! bylaurenm.com

Mules (9)

Another winner in my book! These are another pair that look much more expensive than they are. The heel is two inches, so very wearable! They also come in black, but I really love this cognac color.

Faux Suede Heeled Mules

Mule (9)

Very comfy mules in a great chocolate brown color! They also come in black! (Both versions are sueded.) They fit TTS and are under $30!

The white striped chambray dress is amazing!!! It’s super nursing friendly and you can dress it up or make more casual. Total staple in my wardrobe!! Thank you so much for doing the show try on. As much as I loved so many of the N sale booties even on discount I just can’t afford them right now so I love seeing more affordable options.
