Ever since starting my style sessions a few months back, one of your top requests has been overalls outfits. And for quite a while, I avoided it! I didn’t have a pair of overalls I loved, and so I just didn’t really wear them! But then during an awesome Shopbop sale, I ordered the famous Madewell overalls. And suddenly, I couldn’t wait to wear them! But I wanted to challenge myself outside of my typical overalls and a tee pairing. Overalls are just so much more than t-shirts, y’all. ?So, if you’ve felt stuck with how to wear your favorite overalls, hopefully you’ll get some fresh inspo! Here are four overalls outfits for spring– and not one of them includes a t-shirt!
As far as fit of my overalls go, let me tell ya: they’re worth all the hype and more. They are the stretchiest most comfortable denim. And even more, they’re flattering! How often do you get the best of both?! I’m wearing a medium and love the way they fit. (I’m typically a 28 in Madewell jeans.) Because of the stretchiness, I do think you could size down, especially if you’re in between sizes. Also, if you’re wondering how they stack up against the black denim Madewell overalls, these fit much more generously!
Denim on Denim
This outfit ticks all the boxes for me. Not only do I love the mix of denim on denim but I also love the girly ruffles mixed with the more masculine overalls.
When it comes to mixing two denims my top tip is to always vary your washes. You can definitely do a more matchy-matchy look, but I prefer the look of contrasting denim. Mixing lighter washes with darker ones breaks up the outfit! If you wanted an even bigger variance, you can always try colored denim pieces (black and white are some classics!)!

Short Sleeve Button Down and Overalls
When I first put together this outfit, I tried it with my white button down. It worked, but let me tell you why I like this embroidered one better. The white felt a little farmer-vibe to me. And costume-y is the last thing that I want when wearing overalls as a grown woman. ?So my suggestion is to try patterned button downs, embroidered ones, or even chambray! This light wash one from Target would be perfect! You could also go with a sleeveless option! I just bought this one (also from Target ?)!

Overalls and a Ruffle Cami
For warmer days, a cami is another great option! I personally love this one because it’s billowy, has a feminine floral print, and ruffle straps! Again like with the first option, the feminine details are a nice contrast to the overalls. Although any tank or cami could work here, I especially love this pairing with the ruffle strap showing. Skinnier tanks might give a tube-top-type appearance with the straps hidden beneath the overalls, which isn’t really my style. But hey, they’re back in, so if you wanna, rock it! ?

Off the Shoulder Top and Overalls
Another feminine, billowy option for ya! Are you sensing a trend, here?! You just can’t beat this combo. I love that you can show a little shoulder with the off the shoulder top, but the overalls keep the look playful and casual!
I first rocked this combo when I was pregnant with Ellie. (You can see how I styled my maternity overalls here!) And I’ve loved it ever since! To mix this look up, I’d also swap these slides out for sneakers or even heeled sandals!
Top (medium– oversized fit, could size down) | Overalls (medium) | Sandals (9)
I love four outfits! Overalls are so easy to wear and as you demonstrated, also very easy to style!
