Six Kimono Outfits

I’ve been talking a lot about kimonos lately. They are a spring and summer staple in my wardrobe and an all-around must-have! Since purchasing this leopard print kimono from my recent Amazon try on session, I have been wearing it constantly. And to share with y’all just how versatile they are, I put together six kimono outfits perfect for spring and summer! From denim looks to dresses, I can’t wait to share a few of my favorite ways to wear a kimono! Let’s go!

Kimono With a Graphic Tee

Pairing a kimono with a basic solid tee is a no-brainer, but I love the bit of edge that wearing a graphic tee adds. To make the pairing work, I like to make sure my tee and kimono coordinate. The print of my tee has both black and brown in it! So although they don’t necessary match, they pair well together! Sticking with similar color schemes helps this look work. Or if you have a solid kimono rather than a print, you can truly pair it with any graphic tee!

I went with jeans for this outfit, but for warmer temps, shorts would be a perfect alternative. You could also swap out for sneakers or slides to make this look even more casual!

Kimono with a Maxi Dress

This outfit formula is one I’ve been wearing since I was expecting Layla! It works so well with a bump and beyond too! I love the simplicity of this outfit as well. You can’t get any easier than a simple dress, but the kimono completes the look and adds a little personality. If you’re not a maxi dress person, try it with a shorter tee or tank dress!

Kimono with a Tank and Shorts

If you could have seen me in person over the past few weeks, you’d know this combination has been my go-to! I’ve worn it several times already! My linen button-front tank is perfect for layering up with a kimono, but really any tank will do! You could do solids, coordinating prints, a graphic tank, or even a lace tank!

With the shorts, this outfit is great for even the hottest of summer days! If you wanted to switch it up, it’d be so cute with a denim skirt instead! You could also wear longer bermuda shorts or even jeans. I’d also love to wear this combo with my Converse sneakers!

Kimono with Overalls

One of the things I love about style sessions is that they help me think out of the box! I figured if I could wear a kimono with shorts, jeans, or even a dress, why not overalls? And I love it! This is a great spring option when it’s not too hot outside. Under the overalls, I put on a simple black tank to keep it as light as possible.

If you have a pair of shorts overalls, you could take this look straight into summer! It would also look so cute with an overall dress! To mix it up even more, you could also swap the sneakers for sandals, espadrilles, or wedges!

Kimono with a Jumpsuit

This is another outfit that I might not have thought of without working on a style session! But a basic jumpsuit is no different than a basic dress, so this works! When I initially styled this outfit, I kept it super-casual with black slip-on sneakers. But afterwards, I realized that I wanted to make this into a dressier look! So, here are two variations for ya!

For the dressier look, I wore heeled sandals. I also added a long necklace. I love how the addition of the necklace breaks up the outfit a little more! It’s a simple change but really makes a big impact!

I still like the more casual version as well, but I really think adding a necklace helps up break up the all black look. This version was giving me slight pajama-like vibes, so accessorizing some more can help create a more elevated outfit!

Kimono as a Bathing Suit Cover Up

Want an easy, chic cover up to take to the pool or beach? KIMONO! I absolutely love how my printed version looks with a basic black suit. It adds enough coverage (the booty is completely concealed!) but is also so flattering since it frames the figure! A floral one would also be so fun with this suit, and I also love wearing crochet kimonos or lace kimonos this way too!

Cute outfits! I bought a black jumpsuit and it didn’t even cross my mind to pair it with a kimono. Love the look!
