Before our recent stay at the Omni Homestead Resort, it had been years since Aaron and I got away for more than a few hours kid-free. We’re talking 3+ years, y’all. So it was so overdue! And I could not think of a better place for a little adult one-on-one time than the Omni Homestead Resort!!
Our Omni Homestead Stay
From our home in Richmond, Virginia, The Omni Homestead Resort is an easy 2.5 hour drive. When we arrived, we were blown away by the beauty of the resort situated within the Allegheny Mountains. It is truly breathtaking!
And walking into the resort is just as magical. Just take a look at this lobby, y’all! We spent every evening sitting and enjoying the ambiance of the hotel, the pianist, and a glass of wine. There are even several couches situated by fireplaces for the ultimate cozy spot. We also took advantage of the daily tea time at 3pm in the lobby! With the cooler weather, it was such a nice way to warm up in the afternoons!
Just take a peek at that view from our room too! We were in a room with two double beds that had a seating area and giant windows looking out onto the property! I could get used to waking up to this view!!
Omni Homestead Activities
Being the type that wants to do all the things, I signed Aaron and I up for several activities prior to our arrival! Sitting around really isn’t my style. But there are truly options for everyone, whether you’re more chill or an on-the-go personality!
On the very first night, I had a 60-minute massage. I only wish we had arrived earlier in the day so we could have taken advantage of more time in the adult-only Serenity Garden with pool heated by the hot springs! But the massage was the perfect way to kick off our weekend. I highly recommend scheduling time at the spa or just relaxation time in the Serenity Garden!
Our second day, we got a little more adventurous! We started the day with a 30-minute trail ride. It was Aaron’s first time on a horse, and he actually loved it! The guide shared history of the resort and the area and made sure everyone was comfortable and enjoyed their experience! I got way too attached to my horse Leo and was trying to figure out a way I could sneak him back home with me! 😂 But the good news is that Aaron said he’d definitely do it again! So, that’s a big win for this horse-lovin’ gal!!
We also got to experience the Cascades Gorge Hike through the Allegheny Mountains that I also highly, highly recommend. There are quite a few waterfalls throughout the hike, and it wasn’t overly strenuous. In fact, there were several children who made it through the hike without complaint! I would definitely do it again!
Omni Homestead Dining
Being way too into food, the dining was another one of our favorites about the stay! In the evenings we dined at Jefferson’s Restaurant. Y’all, the food was divine! I tried the Spinach Pasta Carbonara the first night and the Filet of Beef Tenderloin the second night. I highly recommend both! Also, do not miss out on the homemade donut bread pudding! It was our favorite dessert!
We also tried Woody’s for lunch. It’s a slightly more casual vibe with beautiful views of the golf course. Try the pizza, y’all. Trust me!!
I cannot say enough good things about the Omni Homestead! We truly only scratched the surface of all the activities! From zip lining to golf to the pools to a wagon ride that ends with s’mores, there really is something for everyone, including families! Maybe next time we’ll bring the kids… MAYBE. 😉😂
