What Shoes to Wear With Straight Leg Jeans

It’s no secret that wider leg jeans are trending, and after years of wearing skinny jeans, one of the top questions I’ve heard over and over is, “what shoes do you wear with them?!” So here are my top picks for what shoes to wear with straight leg jeans!

To be honest, there are not many shoe styles that I wouldn’t wear with straight and wide leg jeans! But if I had to break it down to one major rule of what I look for it’s this: keep the shoe slimmer than the width of the pant leg!

Lug Sole Boots with Straight Leg Jeans

While lug sole boots aren’t exactly a super slim boot, these still work since the shaft is more narrow than the pant leg! I prefer wearing my pants uncuffed but still cropped in length (not hitting the floor). For more contrast between the boot and pant, you could also style them with a small cuff to shoe a bit of ankle!

Sneakers with Straight Leg Jeans

Another classic go-to is to pair your straight leg jeans with sneakers. Because I do have a little ankle showing with the cropped denim, I could go with a chunkier sneaker. But I tend towards slimmer sneakers in general. It feels more classic than trendy!

Flats with Straight Leg Jeans

If you want an even more classic look, any style of pointed toe flat contrasts perfectly with straight leg jeans! They lengthen the foot in a flattering way. Plus, I love how the ankle bone is visible due to the cropped pant length.

Another great example of this idea is with these pointed toe d’orsay flats. They are even slimmer and more feminine, which again contrast a wider leg!

Heels and Straight Leg Jeans

Want to dress it up a bit? One of my favorite shoe pairings for straight leg jeans is a classic pump! They help elongate the leg and add a touch of femininity.

Pointed Toe Boot with Straight Leg Jeans

Similarly to the pump, these super-slim pointed toe boots create the same exact silhouette! The shaft of the boot is right along the ankle, and it tucks in the pant leg perfectly, highlighting the wider leg pant.

Mules and Straight Leg Jeans

To really drive home the pointed toe shoe preference, I had to include these mules. They’re one of my most-worn fall shoes after all! But don’t feel tied to only pointed-toe shoes! An almond or round toe would work here too! Also don’t forget about heeled mules!

Combat Boots and Straight Leg Jeans

We’re ending with another chunkier boot option! Like the lug sole chelsea boot we started with, these are a more substantial shoe. But the shaft still fits within the pant leg with enough space to create a contrast! (See more combat boot outfits!)

When it comes to what shoes to wear with straight leg jeans, there truly aren’t many styles you won’t see me try! I’d personally avoid a higher shaft boot, but anything that will still contrast against the pant leg are fair game for me! Which is your favorite style?

All really cute combos! I love shoes so I’d try any of these except the heels lol. I think the combat boots is my fave.
