Last winter, I discovered the magic and versatility of a sweater skirt set. I know we’re all about matching sweat set (which are fab, BTW). But for a versatile set to wear casually, to work, or out on date night, you cannot compete with a sweater skirt set! And to prove it to you, I’ve got seven sweater skirt set outfits for all your occasions this winter!
This sweater skirt set is so nice that I bought it twice. Last year in the caramel color, a beautiful brown orange, and this year in black. The set is sold together, which I love. But you’ll see how easy it is to style them as separates too! They fit true to size but relaxed. I wear a medium.
Sweater Skirt Set Outfit
For an easy, chic outfit, I’d wear the set with a pair of sleek heeled booties. For a trendier look, you could swap for a lug sole boot like this one you’ll see me wearing in a look further down. It also makes a great base for layers like jackets, wraps, or even a statement coat for the holidays.
Sweater Skirt Casual Outfit
Although you may typically think that a pencil skirt silhouette would be more suited for professional or dressy looks, it can also be worn casually! I love it paired with a graphic tee, denim jacket, and sneakers. Many different jackets could work here as well such as a leather jacket, utility jacket, or shirt jacket. Or swap for a short or long cardigan!
Sweater Skirt with a Cardigan
In this look, I swapped the matching sweater for a tank. It has a more fitted look that pairs well with a more relaxed top layer like this cardigan. What I love about this outfit is that it could read both casual or dressy depending on the accessories. Here I created a slightly dressier work-friendly option. But if you swapped the flats for a sneaker or boot, it would instantly dress it down.
Sweater Skirt with a Duster Cardigan
This outfit is another work-friendly option that could also be worn more casually. For a slightly more relaxed version, a lug sole boot or sneaker would be perfect here. You could also swap the button down for a tee and make it even more casual!
Sweater, Leggings, and Plaid Wrap Outfit
For the next outfit, I paired the mock neck sweater with Spanx faux leather leggings and a wrap! I love how the sweater and leggings create a sleek under layer, allowing the plaid wrap to be the statement piece of the outfit. For a trendier vibe, I opted for my combat boots (seven more combat boot outfits here!). But for a night out, I would trade them for a pair of heels. An over the knee boot would be another good dressy-casual option.
Sweater and Straight Leg Jeans
My go-to winter outfit is this exact combination. Straight leg jeans with lug sole boots keep this pairing current. But of course you could go with any style jean and shoe combination. A flat would be more casual, and heels would dress it up. Sneakers would give it that everyday on-the-go vibe!
Dressed Up Sweater Outfit
For a night out, you can’t go wrong with an all-black outfit. I chose to pair the sweater with wide leg jeans, but you could easily get a similar vibe with the matching sweater skirt! (More ways to wear wide leg pants here!) A leather jacket completes the outfit. Again, your shoe choices set the tone for this look. Boots, sneakers, and flats would all be great choices, depending on the ocassion!
