Is it just me or are spring and summer some of your most busy months? Between attending graduations, weddings, showers, and going on vacation, it feels like we are constantly on the go. The days before traveling are always some of the most anxiety-inducing for me, but these travel preparation tips always help make our travel more seamless.

Snacks

Are you traveling with kids? Then it’s a no-brainer that snacks are a must-have survival necessity. Some of our favorites are apple sauce and shelf-stable yogurt pouches, individually wrapped crackers, cereal bars, fresh fruit, mixed nuts for the adults, raisins, fruit snacks, and a few lollipops for when things start to get wild. I’m not above a bargaining technique, y’all. 😂

Kids Car Activities

Last summer I created a car travel kit for my kids, and I can’t tell you what a game-changer it is. I make sure to take it out of the car when we’re not traveling so the kids don’t get bored of the activities. But I also love to switch it up with one or two brand-new activities prior to a longer car ride!

Again, it’s Walmart+ to the rescue. I almost always order a couple of Melissa and Doug activity books (Water Wow are a big hit with my youngest while my eldest loves the puffy sticker activity books and scratch art pads!). A new picture book and chapter book are always a hit too with my kids!

Fuel Up

Of course, one of the most important things I do in the days before a trip is fuel up the car! There is nothing worse than spending hours packing up the car and getting ready to hit the road, only to realize that another stop needs to be made. (Not me speaking from experience of course. 😬)
