Holy hot weather, y’all. This August has been sweltering. So sweltering in fact, that I’ve given up on anything but activewear outfits for summer. They’re breathable, sweat-wicking, and lightweight. Anything else is too much! But just because I’m living in workout clothes doesn’t mean I’m not prioritizing put-together looks. Athleisure chic for the win.
Activewear Outfits for Summer
This summer I’ve made a commitment to my physical health and amped up my workouts. So, naturally I’ve also amped up my activewear. I’ve found so many pieces that keep me cool through the toughest workouts. And thankfully the pieces translate into easy activewear outfits for summer. It’s the best of both worlds!
Cropped Tank and Running Shorts
I tend to lead my favorites, and this is no exception! I bought each of these pieces to try and now own three of each in different colors. This tank is slightly cropped, boxy, and breezy, pairing perfectly with running shorts or bike shorts! And as for the shorts? I’ve never found a pair that I’ve liked until these. The fabric is crazy-soft and comfortable. The wide waistband lays flat and stays in place. I can’t say enough good things.

Matching Set and Button Down
You just cannot beat a classic matching set. These are actually from two separate retailers (my favs Athleta and Lululemon). But it’s so easy to mix and match items when you’re working with black! Adding the button down gives this set a little structure and brings it out of workout mode and into chic athleisure! I’ve also worn this combo with sneakers for a sportier vibe!

Workout Dress
This dress is one of my favorite springtime purchases! I bought it for our Disney World trip and fell in love. With built-in shorts, it’s the easiest throw-on-and-go item for everyday. But it’s still made of that technical moisture-wicking fabric if you wanted to wear it for a gym session too!

Athletic Skirt Outfit
Another one of my favorite summertime trends has been the resurgence of the skort. Elementary-aged Lauren loved ’em, and no mid-30’s Lauren is rejoicing their return. This one has an a-line with pleated back. I’m in my true size and like the fit (even though it is a bit short on my 5’7.5″ frame!)
To stay with a more athletic look, I paired the skort with my current favorite workout tank! But I’ve also worn it with a plain tank or tee as well.
