Walmart Early Fall Fashion Hits & Misses

After my recent Walmart early fall fashion reel went live on Instagram, my DMs were overflowing with questions about the pieces. You know me, I love a good fashion find! Especially when it’s affordable and perfect for this stage of life. With the seasons changing, I decided to do a big haul of Walmart’s new arrivals to find the hidden gems and the inevitable flops.

Just like in the video, this is my totally honest breakdown of everything I ordered. You’ll find my unfiltered thoughts on the fit, fabric, and overall vibe, all from the perspective of a busy 40-year-old mom. Let’s dive into what made the cut and what’s getting sent back!

The Hits: Early Fall Pieces You Need to Grab

These are the items that exceeded my expectations and are already on heavy rotation. They’re comfortable, stylish, and perfect for the tricky transition into fall.

Time and Tru Black Barrel-Leg Jeans

Okay these jeans? A major hit! The denim has a great amount of stretch, which makes them incredibly comfortable for all-day wear, chasing kids or running errands. I especially love the fit on the leg. It’s a slimmer barrel cut that’s super flattering and a nice modern update from a standard straight leg. They’re comfortable, stylish, and a total steal. I’m wearing them with everything.

Time and Tru Chocolate Brown Floral Cardigan

This cardigan is giving me major J.Crew and Madewell vibes, but at a fraction of the price. The chocolate brown color is beautiful and feels so perfect for fall. What sold me, though, is the adorable floral print. It adds a touch of charm and femininity that makes it feel special. This is the kind of easy layering piece you can throw on over a simple tee or dress to instantly elevate your look. It’s an absolute winner.

Free Assembly Denim Midi Dress

We all know denim is going nowhere, and this dress is an absolute home run. The fit is easy and comfortable, not too tight, not too baggy. The zipper detail is a thoughtful touch that adds a bit of edge. The best part? The versatility! I can wear this solo now on a warmer day, and as it gets cooler, I’ll layer it with a simple long-sleeved tee underneath. It’s one of those pieces that will serve you well all season long. We love a versatile dress!

Free Assembly Crewneck Tee

Sometimes the most basic pieces are the best finds. If you’re on the hunt for a good, reliable tee, these Free Assembly ones are a must. They’re super soft, well-made, and hold their shape beautifully. They’re perfect for layering under a cardigan or jacket, and they come in a ton of great colors. Definitely a staple for any fall wardrobe.

Wide-Leg Flowy Pajama-Style Pants

Don’t let my name for them fool you, these are not just for sleeping! They feel like pajamas but look so chic. The drawstring waistband is a lifesaver for comfort, and the loose, flowy fit is perfect for those days when you just need to feel comfortable. They also have a nice-sized pocket, which we all know is a major bonus. These fit generously, so I’d recommend sizing down if you’re in between sizes, but they’re a total hit.

The Misses: What I’m Sending Back

Not every order is a winner, and that’s okay! It’s all part of the fun. Here’s the one piece that didn’t quite live up to the hype and why it’s getting returned.

Denim Midi Skirt

I really wanted to love this denim midi skirt, especially since they are so on-trend right now. Unfortunately, this one just wasn’t for me. The fit was a little off and it just didn’t have the effortless, cool vibe I was hoping for. It’s a definite miss and a reminder that not everything that’s trending is a perfect fit for everyone. On to the next find!

Time and Tru White Crewneck Tee

I had high hopes for this basic white tee, but unfortunately, it just didn’t work out. The fabric was a little too thin and see-through, which meant it didn’t pass my personal “vibe check.” A good white tee should be a staple, and this one just wasn’t quite it for me.

My Best Walmart Shopping Tip

Even with a few misses, I’m genuinely impressed with the affordable Walmart fall fashion finds this year so far. The key to making these big hauls work is knowing what you’re looking for, reading reviews, and not being afraid to send things back that don’t make you feel good.
