Virginia Wine: Saude Creek Vineyards

Over the past couple years, Aaron and I have really gotten into Virginia wine, so we were thrilled to visit Saude Creek Vineyards in New Kent County last weekend with my friend Angela.

The tasting room is set up on a hill overlooking the Pamunkey River and has beautiful views. Since we had never been to the Saude Creek before, we started off with a tasting*, which included samples of the Pamunkey Fall White, Vidal Blanc, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Saude Creek Red, Tavern White, and Chambourcin.

The Vidal Blanc, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc topped my list as favorites,  but not wanting to drink an entire bottle each, we purchased just the Merlot and Vidal Blanc to share.

Sipping wine on Saude Creek’s large wrap-around porch was just heaven.

Because we visited during their Autumn Harvest Festival, we were also able to enjoy live music, which only added to the ambiance.

According to Saude Creek’s website, live music is a regular occurrence on Sundays, so I’d love to come back and experience it again.

What a beautiful vineyard, it looks like you had a wonderful time! Over the last couple of years my husband and I have also gotten in wine, we live about 4 hours from a wine region nicknamed “Napa North” for all it’s amazing wineries. It’s such a lovely place to visit in the summer and fall.

    Have a great weekend!

I live in VA too! Close to RVA, actually. 🙂

I haven’t been to that vineyard, but it looks stunning! My hubs and I definitely need to check out more of VA’s wineries!

Thanks for linking up yesterday with the blog hop!

If you’re looking for a nice weekend, you should check out the wineries along the Blue Ridge Parkway. It’s a beautiful drive with lots of places to stop. My favorite is Chateau Morrissette (and they have an amazing restaurant!).

I love the wineries in that area! I’ve tasted Chateau Morrissette at a wine festival before, but I haven’t visited their winery.
