Ever seen someone rocking a floral print with another pattern and wondered, “can I pull that off?” Well of course you can, and I’m here to prove it to you. I’ve collaborated with one of my favorite bloggers (and fellow Weddingbee blogger!), Katie of Ruffles & Truffles to bring you two takes on the trend.
Since I’m an admitted dress addict, I, of course, started my look with a bright rose-printed dress.
Then I layered on a black and white gingham top. This button down was the perfect choice because it doesn’t compete with the floral print. It incorporates the black and white of the dress but is also a smaller pattern, letting the roses be the main focal point.
I can’t even describe how much I love Katie’s take on pattern mixing with floral prints. She worked in not only stripes and florals but also animal print! Aren’t those shoes to-die-for?! They are seriously killer.
To see more photos of Katie’s look and scope out her outfit details, check out her post! She has seriously great style that you won’t want to miss. So head on over to Ruffles & Truffles now!
Have you ever mixed a floral pattern with another print? What’s your favorite way to wear this trend?
My Outfit Details dress: Sunday in Brooklyn via TJ Maxx (similar), top: Old Navy, shoes: Liz Claiborne (similar on the cheap!), earrings: Target (similar), necklace: J.Crew
I wore a shirt knotted over a floral dress yesterday! It was a plain lilac shirt though. This looks lovely and yes, Katie’s shoes are pretty cool. I like to mix stripes and floral, I only have one gingham shirt (blue) and was pondering whether to wear it on Friday with my red skirt for the pantone challenge “Poppy” day. Maybe I might now after seeing this!
Ooh I love it! That floral is almost like the Dolce & Gabanna one, but theirs was chilli’s, ha ha

I love this dress (which I thought was a skirt at first!)
I totally wouldn’t have known this was a dress unless you said something–it looks like a high waisted skirt! I love the new “thing” of tying a shirt over dresses like this…allows you to mix things up even more!
I love the way this outfit came out! I really need to start working on my pattern mixing skillz and I really want to use my dresses as skirts!

First of all, I love the idea of knotting a shirt over a dress to give it new life. Smart! Secondly, I love the way you mixed patterns, but I don’t think I’m brave enough yet! Someday soon 🙂
your skirt is darling and your legs look rockin!
Love the combination! Perfect spring outfit!
