Layla officially turned one month old last Tuesday! How insane is that? Time just feels like it’s flying by. Admittedly, part of that may be because the first week or so was a total blur. I was a walking zombie in feed, change, and sleep mode. But now we’ve settled into our new life as a family of three!
Weight: 10 lbs! I could hardly believe it when the nurse weighed her. She went from 7.5 at birth to 8 at her two week appointment and now to 10! There is no doubt that she’s a healthy eater!
Eating: Clearly my little munchkin doesn’t miss meals. She’s ready to nurse on average every 2 hours during the day and doesn’t let sleep interfere with her eating schedule! Aaron started feeding her a nightly bottle around week 3, and she’s still adjusting but loves staring at Daddy while she drinks.
Sleep: At most, she typically will only sleep a max of 3 – 3.5 hours for the first chunk of the night. Then she goes back to her 2-2.5 hour schedule until morning. During the day she naps pretty often, but unless she’s in Mommy’s arms or snuggled up near her, they don’t last longer than 15 minutes. It can be exhausting but I can’t say that I dislike snuggling her!
Clothes: She’s still rocking newborn clothes and diapers. Some of her sleepers are starting to get a bit snug, but the onesies still have some growing room left! I’m not quite ready for her to go into 0-3 month clothes! In fact, I might or might not have almost shed a tear when Aaron teased me about her not fitting in newborns anymore. 
Mood: I am so lucky to have a content baby who generally only fusses when hungry or gassy. She does tend to go through the “witching hour” sometime between 6:30 and 8:30, but typically a tubby, swaddle, and feeding seem to do the trick. If that doesn’t work, a good walk and bounce around the house does wonders!
Layla’s favorites:
- staring at the ceiling fans
- checking out her gallery wall during diaper changes (especially the Baby, You’re a Star print!)
- being swaddled (preferably with her arms free!)
- being bounced and walked around
- Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star and Itsy Bitsy Spider (especially when Mommy acts it out with hand motions)
- having Mommy and Daddy pat her butt while she drifts to sleep
- snuggling Mommy and Daddy during naps
- tubby time
Dislikes:
- hiccups
- being startled by the dogs
- being hungry!
- having her clothes changed
Nicknames: Punkin, Layla Belle, Toots My Poots, Mittens
This month has been a whirlwind, but there are so many little moments I want to remember. I cherish those moments when she falls asleep on my chest. I love watching her discover new things like her lamb mobile and her gallery wall. Her constant little grunts are hilarious, and the faces she makes could entertain me for hours. This month has been tiring for sure, but worth every little second. I could not possibly comprehend how all-consuming and wonderful motherhood would be.

She such a cutie and so big already. Can you believe that I was 10 pounds when I was born, everyone jokes that I never looked like a newborn.

I can’t believe she’s one month already! She’s SO cute. I miss the days when Hannah would fall asleep on my chest. One minute she’s tiny and snuggling on my chest and the next minute she’s sitting up and pulling my hair. Haha. Time flies! 🙂
