I gotta be honest with y’all: my latest Trunk Club was a bit of an afterthought! My stylist sent me my preview (I’ll explain more about this below if you don’t know what I’m talking about!) while I was at the beach. So, it just never got opened. As a result, I got a sent a few things I would have declined. But oh well! It was overall still a successful trunk since I kept a couple items!
If you’re wondering how the heck this all works, I’ll explain below in detail below! If you know how it all works, just scroll down to see my Trunk Club July review!
What is Trunk Club? How does it work?
Trunk Club is an online service, where a personal stylist (you can request mine here!) helps you select items based on your style preferences. You fill out a style profile that includes your sizing, your favorite colors, types of clothing you’re looking for, and your price preferences. Then you connect with your personal stylist, who asks more in depth questions (via chat or phone!) about what exactly you need and want.
The stylist selects items for you and sends you a preview. You have 48 hours to review the items and remove any that aren’t your taste. (OR remove if you already have similar items! I was amazed how well my stylist nailed my style. There were several items I had to switch out because I already owned them!!)
You can also request specific items be added to your trunk as well! Had your eye on something on Nordstrom.com? Just send your stylist a note that you’d like it to be added to your trunk! As long as the item is available your stylist can include it!
Then your trunk is shipped to you (fo’ free because that’s how Nordies rolls). You can try on all the pieces in the comfort of your own home. Keep what you like, ship back what you don’t. (Again for free!)
If you are a Nordstrom cardholder, the service is free. For non-cardholders, there is a service charge of $25. But if you purchase anything in your trunk, the fee is applied to your purchase.
Phew. Hopefully, I explained that well enough! Let’s get on to the items!!
Trunk Club July Review + Try-on
Sweatpants
This is one of those items that I would’ve nixed straight from the trunk preview, you know, had I actually looked at the trunk preview. ?I love a good pair of casual lounge pants, but here’s what I don’t like about these. For one, the knee slit thing just seems weird to me. I’m all about some distressed jeans, but for some reason, the style just didn’t appeal to me at all. Secondly, the price tag. These babies are nearly $150. NO, THANKS. I also just didn’t love the crop on me either.
Sweatpants (large) | Tee (medium) — under $20 + I loooove it
Tee + Shorts
Now when I saw this tee, I felt like my stylist was speaking my love language. I am a sucker for a classic stripe tee, and these tees from Madewell are one of my all-time favs. I already own three solid colors. Naturally this was an instant yes! Fit is relaxed but I still recommend ordering TTS.
I also thought these star shorts were pretty adorable. They’re made of terry cloth, which makes them perfect for summertime! Wear ’em at home, to the pool, to the beach, etc! I’m wearing a size large. They fit TTS.
Tee + Cardigan + Shorts + Sandals
Now, this is my kind of casual outfit. In fact, it’s so much my style that I already owned all the pieces to make it. ?
I own a nearly identical pair of olive shorts that are maternity. These are not maternity but fit very relaxed and work with a bump! I’m in a medium, so I’d say they run large. Size down one!
I also own these exact sandals in the woven/raffia material. I love them! They are comfortable and super-classic. In my experience they run just a bit short. The pair I own are 9.5. These are a 9, and I prefer the half size larger!
Lastly, this cardigan is a great, light summer option! It has a beautiful flattering drape, and feels soft like a tee! Fit is TTS! The only reason I didn’t keep this one was because I already purchased so many cardis recently!
Cardigan (medium) | Tee (medium) | Shorts (medium) | Sandals (size up 1/2 size)
Ruched Dress
I own this dress in the long sleeve version and love it. It is just one of those universally flattering dresses that looks great on so many body types! This is a medium, but I own the large and prefer that size. I’d recommend sizing up one whether you are expecting or not! Sizing up creates just a slightly more relaxed look while still being curve-friendly!
Dress (medium)
Tee + Leggings
Let’s chat the leggings first: these are the seamless version from Spanx. While I love my faux leather Spanx leggings, these are just “meh” to me. They are a bit see-through when you bend over, and they don’t really hold you in like the faux leather versions. I prefer Zella to these.
On the other hand, this tee is a winner! I love that it’s tunic length and longer in the back. It’s perfect for pairing with leggings or shorts! (Scroll down to see it paired with shorts below!) Fit is oversized. I’m wearing a medium but exchanged for a small. It also comes in three other colors. I am super-tempted to stock up!!
Tee (medium) | Leggings (large) – Leggings in plus size
Tee
The same tee paired with shorts! Like I mentioned above, size down one! This is a medium, but I exchanged it for a small!
Tee (medium) | Maternity Shorts (exact non maternity)
Tunic Top
Sending this top back pained me, y’all. It was just so oversized it was crazy. The only way it looked cute was knotted, and keep in mind that this is a nine month belly! This is a medium, but I would have definitely needed the small. Of course it was out of stock. So disappointing! I love the light fabric and the olive stripes.
Top (medium) | Maternity Shorts (exact non maternity)
Wrap Top
This is another top I was so close to keeping! I love the wrap detail. Not only is it flattering for now, but it also makes a great nursing-friendly option! The only thing I wasn’t crazy about was the color. I love me some white tops, but white and a newborn just didn’t seem like the best match! I’m thinking about requesting this one again in my next trunk in a different color. I could have exchanged it now, but I’m not quite ready for long sleeve tops!
Top (medium)
Top
This was one piece that I wasn’t able to try on because of the bump. At first I was excited because I thought it was nursing-friendly with the wrap style, but it’s actually sewn shut. So, if you’re not worried about nursing, this top is adorable and currently on sale! But it’s probably not the best for nursing (or expectant!) mamas since there is no stretch and a fixed waistline.
Top (size 10)
Alright, now tell me: what was your favorite piece from my July Trunk Club?
That white wrap top ois my favourite piece! I loved wrap pieces like this for breastfeeding,s o much more affordable than specific breastfeeding wrap pieces, but exactly the same! I think any colour would get messy with a newborn too, ha! But no harm in holding out for another colour and more appropriate weather to wear ti! 🙂
Hope you are having a great week 🙂 I went to a blogging event today, it was a lot of fun 🙂
