Five Sundress Outfits

Every summer wardrobe needs a good sundress, right?! Year after year they are one of my staples. But I often find myself wearing them the same way. Can you relate? Flat sandals or dressing them up with espadrilles seem to be my go-to. But I really wanted to challenge myself to think outside my typical outfit formula! So if you’re ready to get the most out of your favorite dress, read on for my five sundress outfits for summer!

The dress I’m styling is a recent H&M find, and it is a good one. The cut is very classic with a sweetheart neckline, fitted bodice, and a-line skirt. It’s very figure-flattering! There are also adjustable straps (praise!) and functional buttons. The back is shirred to help with pulling at the bust (although it does still pull a little on me). The waist line is also reinforced with an extra button, which I love! The fabric is also super-lightweight.

As far as sizing goes, I’m wearing a size 8 in the dress. It does fit true to size! I’m 5’7 1/2″, and it’s the perfect midi length on me. Links to everything I’m wearing can always be found beneath each photo! I also list sizing information there!

Five Sundress Outfits

Vacation-ready Sundress Outfit

I may not be prepping for vacation anytime soon, but I love the summery vibes of this outfit! The straw accessories really does give the dress a beachy feel! The combination is simple, but this outfit is a great example of how a few accessories can really make an outfit! I went with a straw boater hat, but a wide brim hat would create an even more glamorous look. You could also swap out espadrilles for a flat sandal if that’s more your style.

Sundress with a Denim Jacket

For a more classic, everyday outfit you can’t go wrong with a pair of sneakers and a denim jacket! Since it is getting warmer out, I also shared another two versions of this look below! For cooler days, I’d just roll up the jacket sleeves. The jacket also looks adorable tied at the waist! When it’s 90+ you definitely won’t see me sporting a jacket, but I will still rock a sundress with sneakers! In fact that combo is one of my fav outfits to wear when traveling! If I’m going to be walking a ton, I can be comfortable and cute!

Sundress with a Tank

Layering with a tee or tank is one of the best ways to switch up your sundress! I love how this creates a cropped top and high waisted skirt look! For this one, I just layered a lightweight tank top over my dress. You could also do a plain cotton tee or tank here as well!

When I’m wearing cotton fabric, you’ll typically see me knot the tee to the side or front. Since this tank is a polyester, I just looped the excess fabric with a clear elastic hair tie. Be sure to fold over the tank first so that it lays flat. Then gather it to one side! Lastly either tie it in a knot or use a small elastic to secure it in place!

Sundress with a Chambray Top

Would it even be a style session without chambray? That’s a big ole NOPE. ?Chambray tops are another one of my wardrobe staples! Just like with the leopard tank, I love how this combo creates a top and skirt look!

To achieve this look, I only button the top to the waist line. Then I fold under the back and sides to hide the extra fabric. Next I double knot at the waist to create a bow! Lastly, tuck any excess fabric under to create a more clean, even look.

I wanted to dress it up a bit here, so I went with heeled sandals. But this would be so cute with sneakers too!
