New Kent Winery + Some Sparkle

This weekend was easily one the busiest I’ve experienced in a while, but it was full of friends and lots of love, which made up for lost sleep. A highlight was a trip to New Kent Winery. Apparently weekends = wine around my house.

Richmond Wine

Although we attended the New Kent Wine Festival a few years back, I’d never visited the tasting room. With giant windows overlooking the vineyards, it was a very peaceful atmosphere. (Well, mostly peaceful if you don’t count that rowdy group of friends who were obviously making a day of it.)

For $6, we sampled eight wines and received souvenir stemless wine glasses.

My favorites included the Meritage and the Chardonnay Reserve, which had a great smooth, buttery taste.

Once we hit the porch, things got really exciting.

My best friend got engaged! I could not have been more excited.

She couldn’t for the life of her figure out why we were so adamant about going to a winery while she wasn’t feeling all that great and we already had my birthday celebration planned for that evening, but in the end I’m pretty sure she’s glad we dragged her there.

What was the highlight of your weekend?

Oh my goodness, you must have been giddy with excitement! I was a part of my old best friend’s engagement and it was such a cool feeling to know that you witnessed such a huge moment in both their lives! Sending you friend a huge congratulations! As for the wine tasting part of your day, I love that you got to keep your wine glass, that’s something I love about wine tasting too.

I commend you for being able to keep the secret! Congrats to your friend, I adore the photos you took of her engagement ring with the wine cork 🙂 I have yet to go to a winery and hope to make it to one soon. Looks like you had a blast!
