Williamsburg Winery Holiday Celebration and Grand Illumination

Over the weekend Aaron and I journeyed to Williamsburg Winery for their Holiday Celebration.

During the celebration, which was just a fancy name for a food and wine pairing, we sampled small plates from nine Williamsburg-area restaurants.

Dishes like quail, she-crab soup, salmon, and barbecue were all paired with a couple ounces of wine.

After the sampling we grabbed a bottle of wine and made our own picnic on the winery’s lawn.

But our day in the ‘burg didn’t end there. We headed to CW for the Grand Illumination. Even though I went to William and Mary, it was my first Grand Illumination.

Williamsburg Holiday lights

Since the Richmond illumination involves lighting the buildings’ Christmas lights, I assumed it would be a similar experience. Instead, we caught a fireworks show. Completely not what I expected, but still a lovely end to our evening!

Have you attended a Christmas light illumination in your city? What holiday-related events do you have planned?
