Pretty, Functional Jewelry Organization

When I signed up last week as a Stella & Dot stylist, I was super-excited and couldn’t wait to order my samples. But once orders started arriving at my door, I had a little reality check. The belt rack that has been holding my necklaces wasn’t quite cutting it. In fact it was already overly packed and completely disorganized. And it was only going to get worse…

But a recent post from Kate of the Small Things Blog inspired me to revamp my jewelry storage and reorganize. I loved how she mixed jewelry racks with some cute, unique dishware.

With Kate’s inspiration in mind, I made a trip to Pier One and HomeGoods and picked up a collection of pieces to fit my dresser.

My favorite finds were the gold tray I found on clearance (Pier One) and the sweet ruffled cake plates from HomeGoods.

But here’s the kicker: my new organizers are already packed! What do you think I should add that would keep with the vibe of my current collection? I tried adding an over-sized mug and a small bowl, but they didn’t mix well. Plus, they weren’t very functional.

I also purchased a cork board that I could use to hang necklaces, but I’m not convinced it would work unless I hung it on the wall to the side of my current display.

These are all great ideas. For Christmas, I got a wire jewelry rack organizer from my Mom that I keep on top of my dresser. It fits my earrings and necklaces, but my bracelets are another story! ha

I use a combination of trays and necklace trees to organize my jewelry. I always think it’s better to have pretty things on display where you can look at them!

Can you fit a lot of necklaces on the cork board to make it worth it? I would test out how many necklaces it holds. It could end up being really helpful or not as helpful as you had thought. It’s cute though!

I love this! That gold tray is so fun – makes me want to go out and a buy a tray to display some of my jewelry on 🙂 I have a great jewelry holder from Urban Outfitters hanging on the wall that works perfect for my long necklaces and also holds earrings. It holds a TON of stuff and looks pretty too. This one looks really similar to the one I have, and it has a bit of a vintage vibe as well: http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/productdetail.jsp?id=21161765&parentid=A_DEC_JEWELRYBOX

LOVE This! I was obsessed when I saw Kate’s awesome jewels storage and am seriously jealous that I don’t have the room for this type of set-up. I vote for adding in the cork board. I think with all this snow predicted for my weekend I’m going to tackle a wine cork board project for my over flowing accessories!

I love this idea to organize jewelry – I need to reorganize mine too for sure! I think the cork board could work well for more space so you don’t have to buy the box.

I can image how dangerous it’ll be being a stylist…I’m pretty sure I’d want to buy everything and I certainly don’t have the room! My jewelry storage could definitely use some sprucing up! Thanks for the inspiration Lauren! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

You have a beautiful collection. How about putting a pretty plate underneath the cake stand for another layer? The corkboard could work but I feel like it might not match the pretty feel you have going on.

These are such great ideas! I especially love the cake plate. =) I purchased a couple of two-tier t-bars and a ring display box from an online merchandising company a while back to organize my jewelry. I think your ideas are much more personal and it looks great!

i am always trying to find clever, pretty, and space-saving ways to store my ever-expanding jewelry collection too! i am in love with this ceramic egg crate that would look so cute holding earrings or rings… i think it’s really meant to hold eggs, but why not?! i love the little blue cupcake stand you found, now that is cute! what i’ve found to work best to hold my bangles is just a divided storage tray kind of like this that you can just line them up in. hope these are helpful ideas or you’ve found some methods that work for you!! 🙂

Jewellery may be made from a wide range of materials, but gemstones, precious metals, beads, and shells have been widely used. Depending on the culture and times jewellery may be appreciated as a status symbol, for its material properties, its patterns, or for meaningful symbols. Jewellery has been made to adorn nearly every body part, from hairpins to toe rings.:..’`
