Anthem Shamrock Half-Marathon

I hope y’all had a lovely and fun-filled St. Patty’s Day weekend. While most of our friends were celebrating at Shamrock the Block and drinking green beer, Aaron and I decided to torture ourselves with our second half marathon.

J&A half marathon expo

We drove over to Virginia Beach on Saturday afternoon, checked into the hotel and hit up the expo. I certainly could not complain about the gorgeous beach views…

…it was quite beautiful. If only it had been a bit warmer.

This was my first beach-side run, so I was a little unprepared for the amount of wind throughout the race. It wasn’t miserable until we stopped running, and the cold/wind caused my muscles to freeze up. Luckily, they gave all the finishers blankets, which definitely came in handy. Finishers also received four complimentary Yuenglings, which I’m sure Aaron would say came in handy too.

I would definitely do this race again. The finisher’s tent was a gigantic party with bands and plenty of celebration. The race swag was also pretty awesome.

What did y’all do to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day?

Go you! I’ve always wanted to run a half-marathon, but it hasn’t happened yet. Although I’m pretty sure drinking beer after would make me sick!
