Springtime can sometimes feel like a never-ending rainfest, but after several years of Richmond weather, I’ve figured out my perfect rainy day essentials.
1.) The trench coat. Whether classic khaki or bright like mine, a trench coat is the perfect rainy day jacket. Although I own a more traditional black trench, I keep coming back to my orange J.Crew jacket. Not only does it have a hood but it also is the perfect cheer-me-up color.
2. Rain boots. Nothing can sour my mood quicker than stepping into a gigantic puddle and ruining my shoes. You’ve been there, right? No one wants to walk around all day squishing and squashing. Thankfully my Hunter Boots keep my feet warm and dry in rainy and snowy weather.
3. A skirt. Now maybe you won’t agree with this one, but stay with me. Sure my legs might be a bit chilly if it’s cool outside, but have you ever had to walk around in rain-soaked pants? It’s purely awful.
4. A textured bun. Any wavy- or curly-haired lady can tell you that rain can wreak havoc on hair. A little bit of moisture and my hair starts to have a mind of its own. I keep it tamed with a textured up-do.
