Niki’s Pregnancy Essentials

Hi everyone! My name is Niki and I blog over at Glossy Blonde. I love to write (and vlog!) about my favorite beauty and style finds, tips and tricks, and I also like to add some lifestyle moments, including updates on my pregnancy, home decor and a little bit of maternity style!

Since this is my first pregnancy, I’m learning as I go. Now that I’m deep into my second trimester, I’ve found a number of things that work well for me (and a number of things that don’t). So, I thought I’d share some of my pregnancy essentials!

Pregnancy Essentials // Glossy Blonde

leggings // nursing bra // tylenol // belly balm // camisole // maxi dress // jeans // pillow // wedges

Maternity Leggings – Soooo many of my pregnant/new mom friends have told me to buy a pair or two of maternity leggings, and I’m so glad I listened to that advice! They are the most comfortable EVER. Plus, they can be dressed up with boots and flowy tops/sweaters for the fall (which is when I’ll be in my preggo prime), or dressed down for a lazy Sunday. I may even continue wearing them after I have Baby C. They’re that good. I have a couple of pairs from A Pea in the Pod, but I’ve also heard great things about BLANQI leggings, and Gap and Old Navy make great budget options!

Nursing Bras – One thing I didn’t expect was for my boobs to get so big, so fast. Regular bras became really uncomfortable for me almost right off the bat, but midway through pregnancy when I started to get even bigger, comfort with support became essential. The great thing about these is that they’re technically for nursing, so I’m investing in something that I’ll be using for quite awhile. I love the Cake brand of nursing bras and I also have the Boob Design Fast Food Nursing Bra. Both are great.

Tylenol – Because… back pain.

The Honest Company Organic Belly Balm – This is a balm that you apply to your belly and boobs to help hydrate the skin and add elasticity to those stretching areas. Although stretch marks are usually hereditary, it’s nice to believe that there’s something that can prevent them, and if there is, this would be it! It’s all-natural, organic and smells great, too.

Solid Maternity Camisoles – These are an essential, not only because they’re long enough to cover my growing belly (crop top, anyone?) but also because some tops can be a bit sheer, so a solid cami will help give a nice foundation. Bonus for added smoothing (I like the BCBG Seamlesss Cami from A Pea in the Pod)!

Maxi Dresses – They’re like wearing pajamas, but you get to look like you actually gave a crap about what you put on that day. Win-win. I have this (non-maternity) one in navy/white and in black/white and I absolutely LOVE it!

Maternity Jeans – Yes, yes, yes to maternity jeans. They’re ultra-comfortable and I can still rock the denim. Win-win.

Bobby Cuddle Pillow – Or really any type of body pillow, depending on preference! I didn’t get a full size body pregnancy body pillow for a few reasons, but one being that I didn’t want to have to get up and turn the darn thing to the other side every time I moved (which is often). This pillow makes it easy for me to flip to the other side, and still offers back and tummy support to help me sleep more comfortably.

Wedges – The thought of teetering on heels mid-late pregnancy doesn’t work for me, but I still like to have some height! Wedges are an essential piece in my closet these days.
