Layla’s Two Month Update

Layla’s two month birthday (Thursday, October 30) has already come and gone! It feels like just a blink since I was writing my last update, but it’s been amazing to see the changes in Layla.2 months baby update

Weight: 12.5 pounds! Her height is 23 inches, making her in the 80th percentile for both height and weight!

Eating: One thing that hasn’t changed? Layla’s appetite. She still refuses to miss a meal! During the day she eats between every 2-3 hours on average. She’s still taking one bottle a day with Daddy!two month update

Sleep: At night, she rarely sleeps longer than 3.5 hours in a row – the kid loves her milk; however, we’re working on upping her nighttime bottle feed with Daddy so that she’ll sleep a longer stretch. The first time we did she slept 4.5 hours straight so hopefully we’re moving in the right direction!

Clothes: Around six weeks we made the big switch to size 1 diapers and her 0-3 month clothes. Her clothes are still pretty roomy on her now, so I’m thinking she’ll probably be right on schedule for moving to the next size sometime next month! I’m sure the diapers won’t make it that long!two month update

Mood: Layla is such a happy baby. I really don’t have any complaints about her mood! Right at five weeks, she started flashing us her little gummy grins, and there really couldn’t be anything better. Having her see my face and start to coo and smile warms my heart.

Layla’s favorites:

  • hanging toys like Mr. Monkey and her lamb mobile
  • diaper changes (She loves to coo and smile after getting her freshy!)
  • tubby time
  • being bounced and walked around
  • listening to Mommy sing songs, especially Old McDonald Little Miss Layla Had a Farm
  • being held

Dislikes:

  • hiccups
  • being hungry!
  • tummy time
  • being in one place for too long (I think she gets bored easily!)

The growth and changes in Layla over the past month have just blown me away. She is so much more aware of her surroundings, and she really takes things in. Half the time she has a serious look on her face while she studies new people, sites, and sounds. She holds her head up pretty well and enjoys being held in a seated position to look around. She’s still gaining some head control though when turning from side to side. I can’t even count how many times I’ve been whopped with her head as she turns to look at something!

I never want to forget Layla’s first smiles and coos this month. They truly make the hard moments seem easier and frustrations disappear. I will never tire of it!

Lauren, she is just TOO CUTE. Can’t get over it. Seriously, adorableness abounds! Also, Toots My Poots – HA! 🙂
