I originally planned on taking some family photos in honor of Layla’s first birthday, but our schedules got a bit crazy, and we pushed them back to October. Although Layla was a bit closer to 14 months, the timing really couldn’t have been more perfect with the beautiful Fall foliage. We met with my friend Stephanie Dennehy on a Friday afternoon and had a great time playing with Layla (and chasing her around!) at the Carillon.
Now that Layla is mobile, taking family photos was a whole new ballgame. Miss Independent did not want to be held, snuggle, or hold hands. Luckily the leaves, snacks, and books I brought seemed to be enough distraction to capture some great images. (Well that aaaand her mama might have claimed to have seen a dog or two to get her attention. Ooops, I told my secret.)
If you follow on Snapchat (@fizzandfrosting), you know that I waited until the morning of the photos to actually plan our outfits. It was a little stressful, but I was happy with how they looked together.
We love our denim and chambray, so I made those the unifying pieces of the look. Another one of my favorites, lace, was a nice addition texturally, while still keeping with a neutral palette. Since Aaron pretty much lives in plaid button-ups, that was a no-brainer. Last minute, I also grabbed my blanket scarf for a few photos, and I am so glad I did. I love the ones of us cuddling underneath it!
