Although it hasn’t always been at the top of my list, lately H&M is becoming a go-to for me! So much so, in fact, that I made two separate trips over the course of a week. In my defense, one was in Virginia and one was in California. ? My sister, my mom, and I all loaded up on the cutest summer pieces! Of all my try-ons, this is a recent fav for sure. Get ready to break out those wallets (in the name of budget-friendly finds, of course!) for this H&M summer dressing room reviews post!
As far as sizing goes, keep in mind that I’m currently seven months pregnant. Pre-pregnancy I most often wore an 8 to a 10 in H&M. Be sure to check below each photo to see what size I’m wearing in each piece!
Eyelet Top
I’m a sucker for a white top in the summer, but this one was a bit of a miss for me. It just hung a little oddly, which could totally be related to the fact I’m seven months pregnant! If you do want to try this one, which also comes in navy, be sure to size down! I could tell it was huge on the hanger and grabbed an 8. I probably would have been fine with a 6. To be safe, size down at least one size!
Top (Size 8)
Polka Dot Top
Y’all this top is even cuter in person. The polka dots are embroidered, making it appear like a much higher end piece! I originally tried this on in a size 10. While it fit, there wasn’t a lot of room for belly growth. I did try it on in the 12 as well, but then found it a little too wide. The rounded hem also wasn’t my favorite since I can’t front-tuck with maternity shorts. But after saying all that, I still 100% recommend this top. I wish it would’ve worked for me! It’s probably best suited as non-maternity wear or for smaller bumps.
Top (Size 10)
Striped Maxi
I never would have guessed this maxi came from H&M! It’s a nice, thick material and is fully lined. Also, the material is embroidered with a light pink design. It is seriously gorgeous in person. It does come with a slightly higher price tag, but I promise it matches the quality! This one came home with me! It doesn’t have any stretch or an elastic back, so I had to size up two sizes. I was actually between the 12 and 14 but went with the larger size so it would last me all summer! Just keep in mind that you may need to size up if you’re busty!
Dress (size 14)
Polka Dot Jumpsuit
Y’all, buy this jumpsuit, please. It also comes in all black, but the polka dot print won me over instantly! I tried it on in a large, and unfortunately the waistline just didn’t hit in a great spot for the bump! They didn’t have it in store in an XL, or you bet I would’ve tried it! The material is light and perfect for summer. This is the perfect alternative to a maxi dress!
Jumpsuit (large)
Floral Maxi Dress
I’m typically a neutral-loving kinda gal, but something about this bright, bold floral print drew me in! The cut is super-relaxed. I mean, it’s almost mumu-relaxed, y’all! I originally tried it on in a ten and was drowning in it, even with my belly. I ended up taking home a 6. SIZE DOOOOOOWN. BTW, did I mention it has pockets?! ??
Dress (size 6)
Printed Shorts
Yup, these shorts are the same print as that OTS dress. I couldn’t help myself, y’all! These are made to hit your natural waist, have a flat front, and have an elastic back. I really wanted these to work but they just didn’t lay quite right pushed down under the bump. The 10’s were also a little snug around the waist and the store had no 12’s to try. I probably would have been an 8 pre-pregnancy, so I’d say they fit TTS. They do also come in other prints if you’re not quite as crazy about the floral design!
Shorts (size 10)
Sweatshorts
Comfy, soft shorts? YES, PLEASE. I grabbed these in a large, but they were definitely too big and baggy. If you are looking for a great pair of lounge shorts or even a pair of shorts to throw on over your suit, these are them. I’d just recommend sizing down one! They come in TEN colors!
Shorts (large)
Beaded Tunic Dress
The details of this dress are so beautiful. It’s actually a slightly heavier weight tencel material. (Tencel is my fav form of chambray to give you an idea of the weight!) Sizing is relaxed, but I’d still recommend staying TTS since that is the style!
Dress (size 12)
Embroidered Off Shoulder Dress
The embroidery on this dress is so beautiful! It’s a super-light gauzy material, which is perfect for hot day, but doesn’t offer the best coverage. I wouldn’t be comfortable wearing it without a slip, but it could serve as a cute beach coverup for vacation! Fit is TTS. I tried it in a 12.
Dress not currently available online (all black version, embroidered chambray version)
Ruffle Sundress
This is another piece that one of y’all needs to buy ASAP! The ruffle placement didn’t work with the bump, but this dress is adorable!! It has adjustable ties at the shoulder. Fit is pretty relaxed, so you could definitely size down one!
Dress (Size 10)
Off Shoulder Printed Dress
For a super-affordable option, this dress is it! It’s only $12.99 and comes in five colors. Now the downside: it’s pretty see-through. For the price you could certainly afford a cheapie slip. Fit is oversized, so I’d recommend sizing down.
Dress (medium)
Shoulder Tie Dress
I wanted to love this dress. The bow ties are such a cute detail! But I found the material very clingy and unflattering. It could be the size! I tried it in a medium but probably needed a large. Just keep in mind you’d probably want seamless undergarments to make it work!
Dress (medium)
Smocked Gingham Dress
I came thisclose to taking this one home! The smocked top is very stretchy and comfortable, and the gingham print is so darling! It also has a little ruffle detail at the top. The only thing that deterred me was the waistline. It hits just a little too low and sticks out with the bump. For non-maternity, it’s a winner!
Dress (size 10)
Phew! You feeling overwhelmed with options yet?! I certainly was in-store! ? Tell me: which is your favorite piece?
