Best Affordable One Piece Swimsuits

When I shared my Amazon swimsuit try-on last week, the feedback was amazing! Y’all loved the suits, the price point, and seeing the fit on a non-model figure. So, hopefully part two will be just as helpful! I ordered a whole new set of budget-friendly swimsuits, this time from a few more of my favorite stores including Old Navy, Target, J.Crew, and Aerie! And along with over 25 of the best affordable one piece swimsuits, I also threw in a few cover-ups for ya! Let’s get set for summer!

For sizing purposes, I am 5’7″ and currently a size 8/29/M. I am also very short-waisted with a straighter midsection. I will list exactly what size I’m wearing in each suit along with any recommendations I may have for sizing up or down!

Old Navy Swimsuits

All of the Old Navy swimsuits I tried on were under $50, but are often available on sale! Old Navy is currently offering 30% off!

Wrap-Front One Piece

Just like a wrap dress, this one piece is super-flattering! The belt is sewn on and is a true wrap that you’ll have to tie. I loved how this one cinched my waist! It’s also very nursing-friendly and comes in a cobalt blue. The straps are adjustable, which is a big plus for me! And it also has removable cups. Booty coverage is full, and fit is TTS.

Off-the-Shoulder Striped Swimsuit

I thought it’d be hard to top the last one, but I ended up really liking this one as well! The straps are very sturdy. I was able to lift them above my head without them budging. They also stayed in place with some tugging down. I would definitely be comfortable wearing this one with little kids in tow. The stripes are navy and white and are surprisingly very flattering! Booty coverage is great and it has removable cups. It also comes in a floral print! Fit is TTS.

Tie-front Keyhole Swimsuit in Gingham

I loved the idea of this one, but it was my least favorite Old Navy option on me. The keyholes are adorable, and I love the gingham print. (It also comes in a lobster print and several solids.) My main issue was the lack of adjustable straps. And since the back is an open scoop, I didn’t feel secure in it! If you have a more average size or longer torso, I don’t see it being an issue. This one is also cut a little higher in the back and shows a little more booty with a slight cheeky cut. Fit is TTS, and it has removable cups.

Target Swimsuits

If y’all haven’t shopped Target swimsuits lately… who am I kidding? We’re all Target-obsessed here right?! So, you know that they are killing it in the bathing suit game. They recently released a new line called Kona Sol, which is a size-inclusive line, which I love! I tried on a ton of the line along with a few other suits. Many of these were on my top pick list!

Plunge Floral Print One Piece

There is a lot to like about this floral print suit! First of all, the print is gorgeous. I also love the seam at the wast line. It really brings the attention to the smallest part of my waist. The back is also beautiful with a cross-over detail. It is also nursing-friendly. It’s probably not the best option for my bustier ladies because of how plunge-y it is. I also wouldn’t recommend it for those of you with babies or toddlers in that grabby stage! Booty coverage is good and it has sewn-in cups. Fit is TTS. I’m in a medium.

Tie-Shoulder Polka Dot One Piece

How cute is this polka dot print?! The suit is black with white polka dots and has true ties at the top, making it adjustable! It also has a shirred detail along the belly. This is one of the most full-coverage options if that’s important to you! I should have ordered a medium in this one, so fit is a little big on me. Order your true size! The cups are sewn-in. This is a great nursing-friendly option that I think would also work with a bump!

Swimsuit (large, but I would prefer a medium)

Crochet One Piece

This suit is fully lined, but because of the crochet detail it gives the appearance of skin peeking through. It also has double spaghetti straps at the shoulder that are adjustable. The triangle detail is so flattering by bringing the eye to the center of the body. Cups are sewn in and booty coverage is good! This one is also nursing-friendly. Fit is TTS. I’m in a large here but tried the medium on at Target and preferred the fit of that one.

Striped Monokini

I love the bright, wide stripes on this one! It’s so fun and cheerful. It also has a cut-out and lace-up detail in the back. There are actually two ties on this suit, making it feel very secure and making it very adjustable! It has the halter tie at the top and then the lace-up back tie. It is also nursing-friendly and has great booty coverage. Cups are removable.

Strappy Back Floral Print One Piece

The print on this one, y’all. SO GORGEOUS. It reminds me of a beautiful tile print mixed with florals. Also the way the print is designed with the wide waistband and triangles is so flattering. My main issue is that the straps are not adjustable. Considering the back, it totally makes sense, but it may not work for shorter or longer torso’d gals. I’m in the large, but I would have preferred a medium. Fit is TTS. Cups are removable and booty coverage is good.

Lace-Up Back Striped One Piece

This suit definitely gave me more sporty vibe. I loved the stripes, and the lace up back makes the straps adjustable. The fit was larger than in any of the other Target suits I tried. I ordered a large but would have liked to try both a small and a medium to see which fit best. I’d suggest ordering in two sizes if you like this one to get the right fit.

Leopard Print One Piece

I couldn’t not order the leopard print, right?! And I’m so glad I did because this one is a keeper. It was my fav of all of the Target suits I tried. The style is very classic with the triangle cups, but the back has a lace-up design, which I love! I am in the large in the first photo, but I had to tighten the straps for a closer fit and ended up with super-long strings in the back. I ended up going with the medium, which I tried on in store. I have both sizes pictured for you if you scroll down. Booty coverage is good and cups are sewn in. Go with your true size!

Ruffle Scoop Back One Piece

I love the v-neck of this one. It’s a very flattering neckline, and the ruffle is adorable! It extends over the shoulder but not all the way down the back of the suit. The back is a scoop back but has criss-cross straps, making it feel more secure. Coverage is good and fit is TTS. The cups are removable.

Bow One Shoulder Swimsuit

I didn’t end up ordering this one online because I wasn’t sure if I’d like it. But once I had it on, I couldn’t get over how cute it was! It is a scoop back but has a closure around the bust in the back, making it nice and secure. Booty coverage is also good. Fit is TTS. I’m in a medium. Cups are removable.

Floral Print Mesh Inset One Piece

If you have trouble finding suits that fit your bust, this one is a great option because it is sized by bra size! It also have underwire, which let me tell ya: it is FAB for nursing or post-nursing mamas if you know what I mean. I felt very supported. ?The print of this suit is gorgeous too. I love the tropical flowers and the mesh inset at the waist. It’s super-flattering! Now the downside: it’s cheeky, y’all. You also might want to size up one as it seemed to run just a bit smaller than the other suits I tried.

Off Shoulder Black One Piece

I didn’t end up buying this one and I’m seriously regretting it already. I’m obsessed with the lace overlay in the off shoulder portion! Then the rest of the suit is a classic black swimsuit with full booty coverage. It also can be worn on the shoulder. Scroll down to see me wear it that way as well! Fit is TTS. I’m in a medium.

Scalloped Key Hole One Piece

Another great true full coverage option with just a small keyhole! The scalloped trim is also such a sweet detail! The midsection is ruched and booty coverage is great. Fit is TTS. I’m in a medium! It also comes in two other colors.

Textured Tie-Front One Piece

The texture and the color of this one drew me to it. It’s a really pretty mauve! Unfortunately I didn’t think it was nearly as flattering on me as some of the other options! The straps are adjustable and booty coverage is good. It has a scoop back with a closure under the bust line. Fit is true to size!

Ribbed Keyhole One Piece

This suit has a very similar texture to the previous one I tried, but I liked the fit so much better. It has a scoop back with a tie across the back. For nursing, this one is probably a skip but otherwise I really liked it! Fit is TTS. I’m in a medium.

Ribbed Snap Front One Piece

I love a henley tee, so I figured I would probably love this suit, right?! I did like the color and the snaps are a cute detail. But it definitely fit smaller than a lot of the other suits I tried. And it felt like the snaps were going to bust open at any moment. This is coming from someone who is not super-busty, y’all ?So, I think this one is made for the smaller busted gals out there. I’m in a large and recommend sizing up!

J.Crew Swimsuits

It’s been a few years since I’ve purchased a J.Crew swimsuit, but they were having a 40% off sale a few weeks back, making it the perfect time to try them again! One thing that’s nice about the J.Crew site is that they have sizing recommendations. You can enter in what size you wear in other brands, and it will give you a recommendation for individual items. I’d also take the reviews into account though! In two of the suits it recommended I size up and I didn’t need to.

Belted Colorblock One Piece

I adore the style of this suit. The color combination is so pretty! It also comes in red and pink though if you like brighter swimsuits! The belted waist is also very flattering. The downside is that the straps aren’t adjustable. If you’re short-waisted like me or have a very long torso, this might not work. I just didn’t feel secure enough in it to keep it! The booty coverage is great, and it has removable cups. Fit is TTS. I’m in an 8.

Gingham Ruffle Trim One Piece

Although its hard to tell, the material is a puckered fabric, and the ruffle extends all the way around the scoop back. It’s a true scoop back as well with no straps. The open scoop back in combination with the unadjustable straps makes this a no-go for me. The straps too easily slid off my shoulders! The cut is a little higher in the leg as well and shows just a little more booty. Fit is TTS but perhaps a little more snug in the booty. (It might be the higher cut?) I’m in an 8.

Knot-front One Piece

This is one that the sizing calculator recommended I size up when I didn’t need to. I honestly could have sized down due to my shorter waist! Stick with your true dress size or size down one if you have a shorter torso. But as far as style goes, this is such a classic, flattering suit. I love the knot detail, and it comes in four other colors! I liked the booty coverage too! Straps are not adjustable and the cups are removable.

Swimsuit (10 — stay TTS or size down 1 for shorter torsos)

Plunge V-Neck One Piece

This is my favorite J.Crew swimsuit I tried. I just love how it fits and how flattering it is. Unfortunately, the fit calculator failed me here too. I sized up one and didn’t need to! I should have stuck with my true size! One thing to note is that the top does not have any padding or cups. It is double-lined but that is it. It comes in eight other colors! Booty coverage is great.

Swimsuit (10 — Stick with your true size)

Leopard Print One Piece

An adjustable one piece from J.Crew. Hallelujah! This one is a more classic style with the triangle cups and straight straps. I like the band under the bust too. It has removable cups and the coverage is good. I ended up preferring the Target leopard print over this one. But if you like a more classic leopard print, this one is a great option!

Aerie Swimsuits

I didn’t find a ton of suits that I was excited about on Aerie’s website. But then every single one I tried I ended up liking!

Jacquard One Piece

Real talk: I did not think I was going to like this suit on me. And then? Aerie put some magic in it because I loved it! It ended up being one of my favorites out of all the ones I tried! Although you can’t tell though my picture, it as a beautiful jacquard floral texture to it. The back is a scoop back with closure across the back. It feels very secure, even though it’s strapless. But it does also come with straps should you want to add them. The booty cut is called cheeky but I didn’t think it was something I’d be uncomfortable with! Fit is TTS. Cups are removable.

Striped Ruffle Bandeau One Piece

Another cutie of a suit! The top has a tiny ruffle that is the sweetest detail. It also comes in several floral prints, but y’all know the stripes got me! I also loved the contrasting stripes, which I found flattering on me. It has removable cups, full booty coverage, and comes with a strap you can attach. Fit is TTS.

Stripe Two Piece

And here is your token two piece. ?I figured I should try at least one. Of course I love the color of the stripes. They are so fun and bright! The top has both removable straps and cups. It also has three different closures to get the perfect band fit. I ordered large. (I don’t know why honestly. I’m not large in the bust!) But I definitely need a smaller size. The bottoms offer full coverage. I’m in a medium and I liked the fit.

Swimsuit Cover Ups

I also ordered a few swimsuit coverups after y’all requested them! I found a couple from Target (of course), from Amazon and from Aerie!

Shear Lace Trim Cover Up

I love the lace trim on both sides of this cover up. It is also pretty shear as you can see! I’m in a size medium. It does fit true to size but not as oversized as a lot of cover ups. So, if you like a really relaxed fit, I’d recommend sizing up one!

Palm Print Long Cover Up

This one is gorgeous in person! I just love the palm print! It’s a great full coverage option if that’s what you’re looking for. The one thing I will say is that it is longer than I expected. They call it midi length but it’s nearly full length on me at 5’7″! I’m in a medium.

Embroidered Cover Up

This one is such a classic option! It’s a darker blue in person and the embroidery is beautiful! The sleeves are slightly belled. Fit is TTS. I’m in a medium.

How cute are these stripes?! I love the colors and the bow tie shoulders. The ties are functional, making it adjustable. Fit is very relaxed. I’m in a medium.

Striped Pullover and Ruffle Hem Shorts

I love an easy pullover like this. It’s perfect to wear from spring through summer! I’d wear it now with jeans and through summer with cutoff shorts or casually like this with comfy shorts! Fit is very oversized. I’m in a medium. The shoulders are dropped and the hem has a raw hem look.

These shorts are a YES from me. They are so stinkin’ soft. If you prefer wearing shorts as a cover up, these are a great option. You could wear them as comfy casual shorts or pajamas too. They come in several colors and fit TTS.

Jumpsuit

This might not really be a cover up, but whatevs. It could serve as one or you could just wear it casually from spring into summer! The material is crazy soft. Fit is oversized. I’m in a medium, but I would love to go into the store to try on a small. It also comes in grey and olive.

Smocked Dress

This is another item that’s not really a cover up, but I ordered it with my Aerie pieces, so I’m sharing it here! Fit is oversized. I’m in a small and it’s still pretty relaxed in fit. It has pockets and true ties at the shoulder. The buttons in the front are not functional. It also comes in two other solids and a tan plaid!

Crochet Cover Up

This is an under $20 Amazon option. It does show a little more skin due to the open crochet design. The downside that it is a one-size fits most. It also comes in three other colors.

Pom Pom Trim Cover Up

This one can be worn both tied and undone. (I’d probably wear it open more as a kimono!) It comes in twenty color options! Some are prints and some are solids. This is another one size fits most option.

Leaving for the beach in one day and have zero swimsuit. First time getting out since having a baby 18 months ago. Thank you for making the quick shopping less daunting and more fun. This was so helpful!
