Top Five Shoes for Early Fall

Thank you to Walmart for sponsoring today’s post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Confession time: when it comes to most seasons, shoes are a little more of an afterthought. I spend way more time shopping for clothes! But fall is the exception, y’all. I cannot get enough of fall shoes! So today I’m rounding up my top five shoes for early fall. These are the types of shoes that are a mainstay in my wardrobe this time of year. They’ll take you straight from summer temps into fall! And major bonus: every pair I’m sharing today is under $50 and available at Walmart

Top five shoes for early fall

Early fall is such a weird time, isn’t it? Summer is over but the weather isn’t quite cool yet, at least here in Virginia. So for this time of year, I look for shoes that are great for transitional weather. I need options that work well for cooler mornings and those afternoons that still feel like summer! These are my top five go-to styles!

1. Flats

Flats are truly a year-round shoe for me. I’ll wear them in the middle of winter, in the hottest days of summer and everyday in between! But I do find that I reach for them more around this time of year. These pointy toe ones are such a steal at under $10. I love the blush pink. It’s a perfect neutral that can go with anything– browns, tans, blacks, prints! But they do also come in leopard print and black! The memory foam insole makes them very comfortable as well!

What’s great about a basic flat like this is that it’s super-versatile. When I worked in an office setting, these were an everyday shoe for me. They are easily dressed up and paired with skirts, dress pants, and dresses for the workplace. And they also are a great weekend shoe! For a super-classic look, I pair mine with skinny jeans and a tailored top. But I also love the look of flats with distressed boyfriend jeans too!

I’d suggest sizing down 1/2 size!

2. Mule

This next shoe should be no surprise to you! I wear mules constantly! They’re another option that can be paired with dresses, skirts, and denim too! While they might not be as dressy as a classic ballet flat, you’ll still get a ton of wear out of them!

One of the main reasons I love mules so much is their simplicity. Kick ’em on, kick ’em off. That may sound silly, but anyone with a hectic schedule or who is running after kids will appreciate that! These are also super-comfortable and wearable for all day! They’re made of vegan leather, and I love the suede-like texture and rich color. Seriously y’all, these look so high end!

They also come in taupe and black and fit true to size!

3. Peep Toe Booties

When it’s still 85 degrees outside, the thought of wearing a closed-toe bootie isn’t always super-appealing, am I right?! That’s where the peep toe bootie comes in! I love that they give you the look of a bootie but feel more like a sandal!

This first pair is my fav! I love the rich cognac color, which is very on-trend. The texture is also such a pretty detail! They also have a memory foam insole and a very wearable block heel. These would be perfect to pair with dresses, maxi skirts, midi skirts, and denim! If you tend towards a more boho look, I’d suggest wearing them with a fall floral print dress! They fit true to size and are under $20!

These sand-colored booties are another cute option! I love the lace-up style! For those of you who live in the south, these would be perfect! They’re another great option to pair with dresses and skirts! They fit true to size.

4. Classic Bootie

You just cannot go wrong with a classic bootie. I wear mine nearly all year (with the exception of the hottest months of summer!)! You’ll most often see me wearing them with denim, but if they hit at the right point of the ankle, they look wonderful with skirts, dresses, and even shorts!

This first pair of booties might be my favorite find of all! They’re a slightly more expensive pair but still under $50! The details are gorgeous! They truly look like a higher end shoe. The material is just like the mules I shared previously! They are vegan but they have a suede-like appearance. They also come in leopard print (yess!) and black! The black pair do not have the suede and are perfect to dress up. You could easily wear them to the office, wear them casually, or wear them out for date night! They fit true to size.

My second pair of booties are a slightly more classic pair! They have more of an almond toe rather than the pointed toe. The front is a faux suede and the back is a faux leather. These are also 100% vegan. I love the zipper detail on these! They fit true to size and also come in black!

5. Sneaker

How could I live without sneakers?! These days I have mine on twice a day for walks to the bus stop! For casual everyday outfits, I 100% prefer the look of a fashion sneaker over an athletic one! Unless I’m heading to the gym, I want something more like these white and leopard ones!

You truly can’t go wrong with a classic white sneaker. But I love that these have the fun leopard and black stripes on the side! You can’t wear them with everything from casual dresses to denim to jogger pants for a cute mom-on-the-go look! They do have the memory foam insole, which makes them so comfortable! They do run a smidge wide on me, but I have a narrow foot! I suggest sticking with your true size! Also, for the moms a little girls out there, they totally match these that Layla has!!
