I recently purchased a pair of wide leg cropped jeans after searching for the perfect pair for what feels like months! And honestly was surprised at how often I wore them immediately! But I kept wearing the same outfit combination over and over. So, I was so excited when one of my readers asked me to style them for a style session! I came up with six wide leg cropped pants outfits for y’all that will take you from work to the weekend!
Six Wide Leg Cropped Pants Outfits
For my wide leg cropped pants outfits, I’m styling the Madewell slimmer wide leg jeans. Slimmer wide leg might sound like an oxymoron, but they are exactly what the name describes! They’re just a slightly slimmer version of their classic wide leg pants. And that’s actually what drew me to them! Since my legs are the slimmest part of me, I like that these don’t add bulk. They still have the wide leg look without overwhelming my figure.
Many of these outfits could work for the office if you have a more casual work environment. The black wash lends itself to dressier outfits easily! Or, you could also swap out the jeans for a pair of chino-style wide leg cropped pants too!
I’m wearing my jeans in a size 30, but I wish I had stuck with my true size 29. They have a bit of a stiffer feel when you initially put them on but they do loosen up with wear!
Bodysuit + Moto Jacket Outfit
A classic moto jacket is one of my fall through spring wardrobe staples. I am always throwing them on over sweaters and tees this time of year. I especially love it layered over a bodysuit with my wide leg cropped jeans! Having a more fitted top balances out the wider leg in the pant. If you don’t have a bodysuit, a tucked-in fitted tee would work perfectly here too! The jacket also works because of the structure and fit. It’s a closer-to-the-body, tailored fit. I also went with a slimmer bootie.
Knotted Button Down Top Outfit
Another one of my wardrobe staples is a classic white button down! You see this top in so many of my style sessions because it’s just so versatile. The fit of mine is wider and boxy, so I recommend sizing down. But to also combat the wider fit, I knotted it at my waistline. If you’re not a fan of the knotted look, just tuck the top in. With a wider tee, it’s important to tailor the look some to keep your waistline! Again, I went with a slimmer shoe: my favorite mules! Boots, sneakers, or flats would work too. You could also easily layer this look with so many different jackets! I’d recommend a blazer, moto jacket, or figure-framing cardigan.
Graphic Tee Outfit
This might be my favorite look of all! Graphic tees are having a major moment right now. Mine, like the button down, is oversized! So I did the same thing I did with the previous look by knotting it to the side. We don’t want to lose that waistline! I topped the outfit off with a boyfriend denim jacket.
Although I also tried this look with my cropped denim jacket, I ended up liking this one better. Here is why it works: this jacket is structured! It’s a rigid denim, and with the knotted tee, my figure isn’t overwhelmed! I also cuffed the jacket sleeves to show the wrist. Little details like that can make a difference!
In this outfit I feel like a true “cool mom” on the go. ?I’d also wear this look with booties!
And now a more classic outfit! This one is definitely one that could work for the office, especially if you swapped for a dressier wide leg pant. My sweater is a slimmer fitting one, but I still front tucked it to accentuate the waistline. I do think that you could also wear these jeans with a chunkier sweater and booties for fall as long as it was tucked! It’s all about keeping a waist and not having a boxy-all-over outfit! I’m probably a broken record at this point, but the shoes help! The pointy-toed feminine flats lengthen the leg!
Tee + Long Sweater Vest Outfit
I love a long sweater vest as a cardigan alternative! They’re a little more unexpected but still classic and flattering! This one, since it’s a slim body-skimming cut, frames my figure and is so flattering with the wide leg cropped pants! I’m not much of a belt-wearer, but if you are, this outfit would be perfect for one! Since I dress more casually, I just layered with a crewneck tee. But you could also use a button down or dressier blouse and make this work for the office.
Long Cardigan Outfit
I had planned on stopping with five outfits, but after I got thinking about the long sweater vest as a cardigan alternative, I needed to create a cardigan outfit too. Thankfully Ellie continued to nap and cooperated with me. ?This one is pretty much a culmination of all the tips I’ve already given! I tucked the cami in the keep the waistline visible. (I honestly wish I had tucked it in a little more and left less blousing.) And then I added a slim long cardigan that frames the figure! For the shoe, I wore a slim bootie! It’d also be cute with flats or mules!
I hope y’all got some great ideas to create your own wide leg cropped pants outfits! Did you have a favorite look?
