I have a confession to make: before this weekend, I had never been to the state fair. I’m not sure if it was a previous lack of interest or busy fall schedules that had kept me away, but I was intent on making it happen this year.
Aaron and I made the trip to Meadow Event Park midday Saturday, and started off by checking out the animals in the petting zoo.
I’ll admit I didn’t notice any other couples sans children in the petting zoo area, but we had no shame. A couple five-year-olds at heart, we just waited in line like the kids to meet the animals.
After we finally peeled ourselves away from the petting zoo, we headed into the main fair area to take in all of the sights (and smells).
One of Aaron’s main goals of the day was to eat something deep fried, which he accomplished by ordering a fried Snickers bar.
Although I had a bite to say I tried it, I stuck with old fashioned soda, and I’m sure my stomach thanked me.
We finished up our afternoon at the agricultural center (because apparently we hadn’t gotten enough of the animals).
The napping pigs were adorable, but I think the highlight of my day was seeing this sweet one-day-old calf.
Baby animals just make me melt.
Have you been to the state fair this year? Do you go for the rides, food, animals, or the shows?
It looks like you had a wonderful time! I’ve never been to a fall fair either, but that’s probably because they’re not really common up here. Your pictures look beautiful! I can tell you’re putting your new SLR to good use!

Thanks, Jen! I’ve been loving taking it everywhere!
I did this a few weeks ago and had such a great time. My boyfriend and I tried fried pop tarts!

Fried pop tarts sound crazy!
I’ve never actually been to a state fair. But I’ve always wanted to try a fried snickers!
It was better than I thought it would be but definitely very rich. I’m glad I didn’t try to eat a whole one on my own!
Great pictures! Love the action shot of the swings!! I’m a fan of food and animals at fairs 🙂
