Happy Friday, y’all!
I’m typically ecstatic when Friday finally rolls around, but I’ll admit that today I’m feeling a bit apprehensive about the weekend. If you happen to follow me on Twitter or Instagram, I’m sure you know I’m talking about…
…the Half Marathon! And despite what the Expo banner states, my nerves are officially swirling.
Aaron and I have been training with some friends and the Sports Backers Half Marathon Training Team since August. (Go Team Falcons!) I’ve put in hundreds of miles, a lot of sweat, and sacrificed my Friday night social life over the past several months to get to this point. I’ve been carbo-loading, hydrating, and getting plenty of rest, which technically should amount to my readiness, but I can’t kick the anxiety.
Although it’s far from my first race, tomorrow’s run will be my first half. I’ve never felt anxiety in the days leading up to a race, so that’s also a new experience. I’m just hoping that I can translate all of that energy into a great run.
Wish me luck! In less than 24 hours, I will have run 13.1 miles farther and officially be a half marathoner!
Good luck!!! I ran my first half in June. You’re going to kill it!
Thank you so much, Molly!

That’s so exciting Lauren! I’m confident you’ll do great in your first half! My dad is a half marathon runner so I’ve grown up going to races and cheering him on! Looking forward to hearing how it goes!
