A girlfriend of mine once told me that she thought one of the cutest things ever was a pregnant woman in overalls. I’ll admit that at the time my response was kind of like, “Huh. Ok.” But after wearing my regular overalls in my first trimester of this pregnancy, I decided I was going to jump on the bandwagon. And my maternity overalls hunt began. I ordered as many pairs and styles as I could get my hands on. And today I’m sharing my thoughts on each pair I tried! Get ready for the ultimate maternity overalls review!
Sizing-wise, pre-pregnancy I was an 8/10, denim size 29, or medium. I am 5’7″. For each pair I tried, I list the sizing information along with fit, comfort, and my ultimate impression!
These soft overalls were a major contender. The comfort level was AMAZING. It was like wearing super-soft pajamas that were still cute! If it weren’t for the fact that I’ll be largest in the summer months, these would have been keepers! I definitely recommend them! ASOS tends to run just a bit small, so I ordered at 10 and liked the fit. There was still plenty of room for a growing bump.
Size Ordered: US 10 | Comfort: High | Ultimate Impression: LOVED!
I really wanted to love these. Upon opening the package, I thought they’d be winners, but once they were on, I was a little disappointed. I did not like the cut of leg at all. The website said they were straight leg, but they almost looked like a slight bootcut on. They were also a little short for my liking. As far as fit, they sat very low below the belly, which felt a little odd.
Size Ordered: 10 | Comfort: Average | Ultimate Impression: Meh
I’ve been a fan of Pinkblush since I was pregnant with Layla, so I knew I had to try their overalls. Spoiler alert: neither pair I ordered were winners. They were sold out of the mediums in this gray pair, so I ordered a size large. Thank goodness I did because otherwise these would not have fit. The material felt super-cheap. (You can see how thin they are with my t-shirt line in the back!) And they had absolutely ZERO STRETCH. Um, how does that work for maternity clothing? It doesn’t. I was super-disappointed all the way around.
Size Ordered: Large | Comfort: Low | Ultimate Impression: Do not buy!
Like the previous Pinkblush pair, these also had ZERO STRETCH. It really boggles my mind that they could even call these maternity. I tried these in a size medium and they barely fit my five month pregnant bump. Another major fail.
Size Ordered: Medium | Comfort Level: Low | Ultimate Impression: Do not buy!
These were one of the first pairs I ordered, and it was so hard sending them back! They felt like they were made of the softest jogger pant material. Similar to the ASOS pair they were pajama-like in comfort, but these are definitely a thicker, more substantial material than the ASOS ones. They are also about triple the price– just something to keep in mind if you’re on a budget! They were out of stock in medium when I ordered them, and although it’s hard to tell in the photos, the crotch was super low and legs were very baggy. If I had been able to get them in a size medium at the time, I absolutely would have kept them for the spring months!
Size Ordered: Large (but I needed a medium) | Comfort Level: HEAVENLY | Ultimate Impression: LOVED!
Soooo, these are technically not overalls, but when I was looking for shortalls, I found them. Since they can be worn layered like overalls or solo like a playsuit, I figured I’d include them! When I shared them on Insta Stories, y’all kinda hated them! But honestly that didn’t stop me from loving them! They are made of the same material as the ASOS soft overalls and are so comfy. Aaand I could actually justify keeping them since they are shorts and can be worn during the summer! Although these exact ones are currently sold out, these are similar but with a sleeve and defined waist! (I actually own the full length version if you want to see how I wore it here!)
Size Ordered: US 10 | Comfort Level: High | Ultimate Impression: LOVED!
Hey, it’s painter Lauren here reporting for duty. ? I thought white overalls would be so cute for spring and summer, but the fit of these was just not good. The legs are super-wide and the booty (and elastic waist) is just unflattering! Uni-butt, anyone?!
Size Ordered: US 10 (maybe size down?) | Comfort Level: average | Ultimate Impression: Meh
I had to save the best for last. I was super-resistant to ordering these for one main reason: the side panels. In the side profile photo you can see them slightly. I just thought they were a little unsightly, but once I had these babies on, I didn’t care about the side panel anymore! They are so comfortable and actually hit at a normal waistline level like non-maternity overalls! I also liked the slightly cropped length for wearing with flats and sandals. I just can’t sing the praises of these enough. (You can actually read more about my obsession with these maternity overalls that I wore in NYC here!)
Size Ordered: Medium | Comfort Level: High | Ultimate Impression: MY FAVORITE!
